IMHO, other than Going to the Sun Road, is the Many Glacier Valley on the East side of the park - US 89 north out of St. Marys, turn west to the Many Glacier Valley just before Babb. Beautiful glacier-carved valley, 100 year old lodge, on and on!

Keep in mind, that it may be snowing at Glacier NP in September.

I was there early August this year..........two weeks later they had snow at Logan Pass.

Going to the Sun road was Epic! I came in from St. Mary, and stayed at Lake McDonald (Fish Creek Campground) on the west side. Can't really comment other than it seemed there was lots more stuff to do on the west side (as in, more "Touristy")
I just barely scratched the surface, as I was passing through..................I would go back in a heartbeat!

I have been thru Glacier and Going to the Sun twice.

Going to the Sun is twisty and requires careful attention. It does not allow you to really enjoy the vistas. My Son in Law rode it with me. He grew up in the flat lands and the perspectives really unnerved him

The other trip I was on we rode the Park bus and it was a much more rewarding experience.

This is my 2 cents worth. Either way you will enjoy the trip

A true breathtaking ride. Don't know how soon the road starts closing due to snow, but if it does, you want to see the east side of it. The west could be skipped with no remorse.

You guys aren't giving the west side enough credit.
Just west of the park is Hungry Horse Reservoir with an adventure road all the way around.
The lake is 34 miles long with a 564 foot dam.
I have only ridden some of the road [not all the way around] but I plan to ride all the way around and explore some of the off trails.

Many Glacier Road is a big +1. We did that on our way thru Glacier to Alaska. The Sun road was closed due to snow(early June), so I had to circumnavigate the Park to get to St Mary. Camped in St Mary Campground before rolling up and back to Swiftcurrent and then Chief Mountain Highway. Keep in mind, it is not unusual for Many Glacier Campground to have tent restrictions if there are bears in the immediate area, which was the case when we were in the area.IMG_3512 (003).JPGIMG_3514 (002).JPG

are you just limiting yourself to GNP?
or are you exploring further? other than what has already been said above,
I have a fondness for Kalispell, nice people there and west to Libby, north to Eureka and back...
there are many paved logging roads with zero traffic all in that circle that show up on Google Maps
and
don't forget the Huckleberry everything, jam, ice cream, pie.....

It is such a beautiful area that I'm sure if you explore there has to be many great things to see in every direction. We did it on our ride to Alaska and had no time to check anything other than Sun road. The west side of that one was a sleeper. A ride through the woods that can be seen in many, many other places.

I was lucky enough to get to go to Glacier a few years ago. We camped on the east side and rode all the east and west side as well as the south end. It was all great! Hiked to some water falls and lakes. Got ran out of one water fall by some bears. Well didn't get ran out but we definitely turned around and hiked back down! You can't go wrong any place there. I can't wait to go back!

Yes, really good route suggested. Listen to Beemermcr this guy named all the great rides.

If you have a smaller bike capable of single track find a local bike shop or check the map theres lots of really get trails quite challenging but worth the ride at Columbia Mountain Trail head just outside of Hungry Horse or Six Mile Peak, south of Big Fork. It takes you to the top of the Mountain you can see for miles, Flat Head Lake. Kalispel, the ski hill, Columbia Falls and Swan Lake.

If you happen to get North of GNP the Yaak road, (Google maps - Leonia, Yaak, Eureka) is incredible.

So....after reading and viewing the posts....I've determined that there aren't any "bad" roads to ride up there. Bad as in ugly. I'm betting there are plenty of bad, as in make you drop your bike bad though.
