That’s an interesting thought, has anyone ever broke a winglet on a Tenere ?
Mine has been down numerous times, and no damage. They are set in enough that, at least with crash bars, you will not get near them. Of course, a good rock, or the bike tumbling is another story.

I got mine of ebay for around £40. I have the clear, but you can get them in a selection of colour's. I don't have the glare problem with the wings, but I do with the transparent map pocket on tank bags, it's like a mirror.

I've had the winglets for a while now and they did improve wind management, but not a great deal.

I got about as much improvement, maybe even a little more, by installing mirror extender mounts (eBay).

not sure about the look, but I would be afraid of breaking it when dropping the bike off-road.
With ST weight is not that far from Gold Wing anyway :)
The winglets are quite protected. Many of us have dropped these bikes many times and I can't think of any winglets breaking.

As for the 'Wing comment, not only does the Tenere weigh a lot less, weight has nothing to do with how the winglets work.

There are numerous prior threads about the winglets. Search is your friend.

What scale are YOU using. 200lbs is a HUGE difference to ME. I was riding the other day, and there was a 3/4 to full value 15-20 mph side wind. I was VERY glad that she was not a 400 lb bike. Because, even at a 900 lb combined weight, she was moving around pretty good.

EDIT: The 2018 'Wing is 800+ lbs, the 2017 is 900+ lbs. That's 30-50% more, depending on the year of the 'Wing. That IS far from the Tenere's weight....in my opinion. :)
I think he was exaggerating for comedic effect, hence the smiley.

I just fitted a pair of these to my bike yesterday. Bought from slipscreens through eBay and I went for the tinted/smoked set as I read about possible glare from the sun. Not tried the bike yet but hope to give it a run in the next week or so.
I just needed some longer bolts as I have the screen supports fitted
