Pass the popcorn and dim the lights.

Always looking to find a new film to add to the "que" as well as share my favorites with others. I'll pose a couple a questions to get this going:

1. Is there an upcoming film your excited to see?

For me it's the new Top Gun! I'm equally excited to see the planes and motorcycles take center-stage. The Ninja from the first movie was one of my favorite movie motorcycles growing up. I had a toy F-14 that had buttons quoting dialogue from the Mig encounters.

1.A From skimming around past forums, I think it looks like there maybe some fellow aviation enthusiasts as well. Maybe a new thread?

2. What's some of your favorite movies? Most quotable?

A couple of my favorites: Better Off Dead, Lord of the Rings Saga, Galaxy Quest, Monty Python and the Holy Grail to name a few

3. Was there a motorcycle(s) in a movie/tv that got you interested in the hobby? Or one(s) that influenced your taste in bikes?

Besides the Ninja from Top Gun, I also really liked the Honda Transalp from the Parody Hot Shots as a kid. I first wanted more of an adventure style motorcycle was from watching the BMW F 650 CS Scarver What A Girl Wants, the idea of going anywhere in London with Amanda Bynes was quite appealing for a middle schooler! I've always gravitated more to UJM's and standards so I really liked the Norton in Heartland.

Looking at the list of bikes I liked on film, pretty ease to trace a line to how I ended up on a Tenere!

Going by some of what you have written here, I'm guessing you're on the younger end of our age spectrum on the forum :) I'll add a few of the more classic motorcycle movies:

On Any Sunday (the entire series, really, but the original from 1971 is the benchmark)
Dust 2 Glory (not just bikes, since its about the Baja 1000, but this one is about the year Mouse McCoy one upped Ivan Stewart and iron manned the race on a bike)
The World's Fastest Indian

Then there is the more obscure. One I frequently reference is Street Hawk. Much like Knight Rider, the premise was a high tech vehicle is used to help fight crime that the cops couldn't touch. It lasted all of one season back in the 80's, so you have to really search for it. From IMDB: The motorcycle in the pilot was based on a 1983 Honda XL500 trail bike. The motorcycles used in the series were based on 1984 Honda XR500s. The motorcycles used for the stunt shots were based on Honda CR250s. Overall, 15 motorcycles were used in the show.

Another movie I remember for the vehicle was Damnation Alley...

Little Fauss and Big Halsy - Johnny Cash did the soundtrack, so you know it's good
Best Bar in America - Sort of a "B" movie but it's good and has a neat sidecar rig in it
Why We Ride - Documentary about the passion of two wheels

It is true I'm on the cusp of thirty!

I've heard good things about dust 2 glory I'll have to add it to my to see list.

I couldn't list every option for movie motorcycles, I knew I had forgotten some good gems, as well as some I haven't heard of till now.

Winners Take All - Awesomely cheesy 80's MX movie, if you are a fan of 70's and 80's MX you'll see some notable characters. It's on YouTube, here's the link!

Time Rider: The Adventures of Lyle Swan. (1982) The guy's a dirt bike racer, gets caught up in a government experiment, and gets sent back to the 1800s. Sci-fi, and motorcycles. . . . two of my favorites.

DM and I were recently tricked by the trailer for A Story Worth Living. Goodness gracious, that's a horrible "motorcycle" movie. She made me sit through all of it. We're still not talking after that one. I immediately went to On Any Sunday as a pallet cleanser. Still holds up after all these years.

Dust to Glory - always a favorite.

Why We Ride - A stand out excellent movie. I've never finished with a dry eye.

Wild Hogs - Park your brain and enjoy stupid fun. We watch it before every annual long distance ride.

Long Way Round or Long Way Down - again we will watch one of these series before launching on a multi-week, long distance ride.

BTDT. She's more likely to misread a trailer than I, but it still happens. Or, when you read the description to a movie. . . . and it's the wrong movie.

We both watched the trailer and were both completely on-board. Most misrepresented trailer I've seen since Streets of Fire back in the '80s.

DM was watching me watch the movie. Apparently she's amused seeing me roll my eyes and shake me head. I ranted about that movie for a few days. DM twisted the knife, she said, "if I hadn't gone with you to the 2019 Tenere event, I would think that's what you guys are sitting around and talking about at those events." Oh good grief.
