Here is a link to photos to the Hepco Becker 30L bags. I thought I would need a 40L bag on the right side to offset the muffler sticking out on the right but not so. I did not want Yamaha because I want to be able to open without a key when I pull over on the side of the road.

Those looks nice Hojo...
I like how they sit high on the bike...
And I see from their website that they come in black too.
Got a pic of the racks without the bags installed?

And this one sort of shows how I can mount a spare 30 ml MSR bottle inside a 'tool tube' with a simple strap (the bottom of the tube isn't visible, but the strap goes under the tube bracket and is secure. At the top of the tube, the plastic bracket slips under the handle of the saddle bag.

Thanks for posting Hojo.
The racks really don't look too noticeable without the bags mounted.
I like your tool tube/bottle mount idea too...I think I'll be buying some HB luggage for my raven...

I ended up also doing the same to my Caribou cases. My wife's Spyder gets pretty poor mileage and we've sweat it out a couple of times. Each 30oz bottle lets the Spyder go another few miles.

Never been a fan of putting vendor stickers on the bike, but those TT ones are highly reflective. And they did sell me most everything attached to the Tenere.

I'd really like to see the Hepco Becker Gobi Luggage in black on a Raven bike...

Or maybe the Yamaha panniers painted black...

Caribou 36L system with a used shad top case. Easy on/off, waterproof, found a clear plastic bag liner on ebay for like $6, works great for my use.

I don't have a pic of the Gobi's on a S10, Walt, but here is one on another bike at the Indy Dealer show last Feb. They are rather large for the 37L capacity due to the area between the inner and outer panels being hollow, so that you can carry 3.5L of liquid in that space.

Those are nice looking panniers, and big suckers. Is the water storage for drinking water ???? Remember, 3.5 l of water weighs about 8 pounds. I guess that's as good a place for it as any, though. R ::001::

Thanks Fred,
Those do appear to be larger than what I really need, but they look good and I like the capability to carry water, but I'd probably never use it...

Rem,
Re the weight of water, I just remember this little jingle from school...
"A pint's a pound the world around" (I don't know of a metric rhyme ::025::)

A few pics. of the winter project in progress. Very similar in size to the Yamaha units. Chose to make from pieces and flush rivet as bending/welding in one piece was out as I haven't tried welding aluminum yet. Material is .063 6061T6 aluminum sheet. So far so good.
Tracking down lid seals, case latches, hinges etc. takes some research. Cleaned all sheets with cleaner and abrasive hand pads prior to assembly as they will be primed and painted for the finish.
Looked at powder coat but due to the seams being sealed with polyurathane caulk the heat from powder coating process was out.
Built a set for the Vee using Stormcase units (similar to Caribou) for the ride north in 2010. They survived the ride well.
Will be testing these on the ride to Whitehorse in July ::001::
Hope everyone has a good Christmas.
