Thanks for your response. I decided to go with the Givi racks and E22 monokey side cases. Parts are in my garage but I haven't installed them yet. I plan to do some off-roading but nothing too extreme. Nice to see someone else with a 2023 model. :)
Are you planning on mounting crash bars? I really like these Givi ones as they are not too big but will protect the bike in the event of a drop.

I am also about to pull the trigger on a Garmin XT for my long trips. I'm not a fan of cell phone navigation as in many parts of Texas there is no cell coverage, so Nav is best.

Those crash bars look really nice. I may install some on my bike down the road. Right now I'm focused on getting the luggage squared away and I'm thinking about purchasing the Yamaha taller windshield. I think it'll really help when I do some long distance touring.

I've heard some good things about the Garmin XT. My cell phone navigation works well here in Florida and I just purchased a handlebar cell phone mount that I really like.

When did you buy your '23? I heard they haven't made any changes for the '24 model. A buddy of mine recently looked at a '23 that's selling for $12,990. Talk about a sweet deal!! :)

I purchased my 23 in Sept of 2023. Of the three dealers in my area that sell Yamaha's only one had one ST1200 left. They are not my fav dealer and I don't service my bike there even though they are the closest. They offered me the ST1200 for $15899 which was a good deal, down from the $16299. However, once they provided me their final numbers their assembly was $799 which I felt was a total rip off. Then they added a protection package which covered tires and the battery for 3 years for $999. I refused to pay for the protection package and they said they cannot remove it. So I got up and said I'm not paying for something for a grand that I see no value in. In the end they agreed to remove the protection package for $999 but then told me they are also removing the $400 discount so I bought the bike for $16299. If anyone within a 100 miles had the bike I would not have purchased it there. I take my bike to a great dealer about 40 miles away for service. They bend over backwards and do a great job and their prices for service are great.

Have you decided on the luggage you're going to buy yet?

Yeah, I agree that the stock windshield doesn't offer great protection on long trips, especially at higher speeds. I purchased a Puig Touring shield and its got a nice gray tint which goes well with the bike color. I'm very happy with it. It was the first accessory I bought.

Now you know why they were the only dealer that still had one. I just learned that my local dealer has been sold. Gulp. They were great, which means that the new one can only be worse. Unless they carry on the previous owner's modus operandi.

You are totally right, the reason they were the only ones with a bike left to purchase. :)

Your windshield looks nice although I don't think I'd want one that tall or dark. Today I installed my Givi racks and E22 side cases. I know they're not heavy duty but I think they'll work just fine for me. I posted some photos on the "what did you do to your Ténéré today" thread if you'd like to see them.

The cases look great. What size are they? Is it 22 litres? I like the dark shield as it provides some shielding from the sun here in Texas, if riding into it. I also look over the shield and not through it so no impact to riding it at night. Last but not least, it looks good on our grey bikes. :)

Thanks and yes they are 22 liters. With the (2) 22L side cases and the 47L top case I should have enough luggage capacity for a week long trip. I went for a quick 100 mile ride today to test the new Givi racks and side cases and they work like a dream. The only difference I noticed was some added weight when pushing the bike out of the garage and putting it on the center stand. Zero difference when riding the bike which is what I was hoping for. As you can see in the picture below, I switched the side cases around to make it easier to mount and dismount the bike (great suggestion from someone here on the forum).
I'm glad the dark shield is working out well for you. You're right....it really does look great on our grey bikes!!

I recently went on my first extended road trip with the Jesse Luggage that came with my ST. These things are bomber, and I am confident they will take a beating and hold their shape, but that comes at the expense of weight (13 lbs each).

The major downside, though, is the company itself. The owner/founder sold the company last year, and the website has been unavailable for 2-3 months. Over most of that time, they had a landing page saying a new website was on its way, but now that's gone. I emailed them and have not heard back, so maybe Jesse Luggage is out of business :(
