Man, I thought that was a rhetorical question. I assumed that everybody knew that line. He was saying it as he was loading garbage into the Mr. Fusion.

Today, we left for the Lipetsk region, which is 500 km from Moscow. A treasure trove of apples, potatoes, sugar beets, cereals.

I'm constantly bitching about my roads. To give some perspective, each "patch" that you see, has about an inch of loose gravel. "Back in the day" they would put signs out warning of the loose gravel. No more. Now you can see why I'd rather have some of y'alls dirt roads. And, for the record, my 90/10 Bridgestone A41s. . . . . suck in this type of gravel. Even going slow, gravel is getting thrown up through the gap around the triple tree, and hitting me.

thankfully my area bypassed the driveway sealant under pea gravel approach and went straight to what looks like coal tar with gravel, which makes these wonderful black tar stripes on your paint that look similar to a 3 yr olds shirt after an ice cream.

my road is still graded flat and calcium chloride is sprayed down to keep dust at bay. nothing like driving through a river of liquid salt after a rain storm.. ugh

They do tend to keep you on your toes. In the first picture, the rocks and trail are all covered in talcum powder like dust, making them move under you like marbles, not much fun for any distance. I think the section in the 2nd photo is about 1/2 mile long with several steps tossed in for added pleasure.

I live in a suburban area of southern Ontario however I can make it to gravel roads within 30-40 minutes. Gravel is my preferred road of choice and so long as it's not posted "No Trespassing" or "Private Property" I will give it a try. That being said I do all of my riding alone so I tend to not venture too far down logging roads or muddy trails because there is often no cell phone service and if I dump the bike and break a leg it would suck. Once a year I manage to take a couple of days off work and drive the 6 hours to northern Ontario around Sault Ste. Marie - the roads up there are a blast.

Logging roads north of Aubrey Falls ON

A road that goes nowhere - potions were dug up to prevent access to a nature preserve. Near about Luther Marsh ON.

Pump jacks near Oil Springs ON

The bridge is not distorted due to the camera lens - it has been distorted by a large vehicle and subsequently closed. Near Belwood ON

This was a bad idea. After crossing the bridge deck I realized that there were hundreds of exposed and loose nails. No phone service and I could have been stuck here quite awhile until another vehicle came along.

Just one of those touristy signs you see. Still in Ontario though.

Beaver Valley ON - Nice gravel switchback with a 15-20% grade.

Excitement averted here - I walked out onto the bridge and bounced on it a few times. The deck was quite spongy and would spring 4-6 inches. Definitely wouldn't support the S10 and I. - Some place near Big Creek / Long Point ON
