Wow you guys take half the house I am used to backpacking so my gear is very small, light and minimal in comparison to some. About 10-12Kg. I only have food for one day however am not going off road anywhere so don't need supplies just the stove etc.View attachment 81631
I think at times it may depend on where your from. Here in British Columbia CA. you have to be very self sufficient, even in the case of backpacking into the wilderness. The backcountry is very remote for both backpacking and adventure riding.
Distances between communities and fuel stops can be beyond the bikes capability even on tarmac. Plus those who rely on cell services may find out quickly that these don't work once away from a major center. The vast majority of BC has no cell service once out of a major center and smaller communities have very spotty service.
So packing light can mean being unprepared for the unexpected in these parts and spending a long time stranded for help.

Here is mine. This year on a 3 months trip to the south of Europe. At night, temperatures varied between 28C en -4C, so a lot of my luggage is clothing and warm sleeping stuff.
The green roll is my tent, the black one contains sleeping bag /-mat and clothes. In the panniers: kitchen (the top case), shoes, chair, food, summer and winter gloves, maps, tablet, toiletbag, First aid kit, spare glasses, wires and plugs to load Cell Phone, tablet etc.
And as per usual, in week two of the trip, I send 1/3 of it back home.
Pitty I had no place to put the bull.

My wife and I go for two weeks or more every year. We camp every night and have breakfast and dinner at the site. We usually stop for a good lunch. This was Idaho in June. Most of our backpacking gear does double duty. The tent was already taken off the left pannier in this photo.

Inquiring minds want to know. Why the trip from Kansas, to Tampa, and on through Destin . . . . to get to Guatemala? I mean the whole "shortest distance between two points" thing.

Mine has two forms, hard bags when im on stuff i dont think i have a chance of laying it over on the ride. and soft bags where I may end up with a tip over so don't need the shin snapper risk.

UK to Norway in a few days...
I’m well jelly, loved it there when I went 4 years ago and looking forward to going again sometime in the not too distant future.
Any fixed plans or is it just go with the flow and stop where/when you feel like it?

Fully loaded with all gear for 6 month Africa tour from Cape Town to Kenya (2021) Only thing missing is the pillion that was taking the photo. We stopped on a truck weigh bridge before leaving South Africa and weighed in at 530Kg (Bike, Gear, Pillion and pilot).

No I still have not fully researched the best route but after Sweden I will go onto Oslo then across to the Hardanger Vidda park region then either south along the coast baCk to Oslo or cut back through on the E134 side roads maybe.
