Good Morning Fellow Riders,
I am thinking about purchasing a Yamaha Super Tenere. What is your thought on rider height?
I am 5'-8", I sat on it and was able to keep the bike stead with both toes on the ground. What are your thoughts?

The Tenere is amazingly adjustable. The fellow I purchased mine from was your height I believe. He had purchased a low seat, raised the forks and installed adjustable lower links in the rear. He was very happy with how it fit but no so much with the power I guess. Lucky me!

Anywhoo, welcome and let me know if you need short guy parts. I have some to spare.

What is your inseam? I am 5'9", with a 32" inseam, and no problem. Holding the bike straight up, is both toes on the ground. I usually am slightly leaning to the left at a stop, with my right foot on the brake, which will allow me to flat foot my left foot. My seat is in the low position, and is Seat Concepts, which I think is a little wider then the stock.

Put some crash bars on it and dont worry. Dropping a bike is all part of riding we have all done it. It will just rest on the bars no worries. For my part i find the Tenere much easier to ride than my Tiger despite it weighing 60kg more. The Tenere carries its weight really well and never feels like a heavy bike. Don't be put off, its a fantastic bike to ride. And lots of fun.

It all comes down to your skill and experience level and what you are comfortable with.
I know several short rides who can comfortably handle any bike no matter how high it is.
The T12 can be a heavy beast to handle around the driveway for the inexperienced rider, but when it's rolling most of the weight disappears because it's so well balanced.

Welcome from Texas. It's not the height, it's the inseam. I'm 6', but have a 31" inseam. (cue the gorilla jokes) In the low position, I have one or the other foot flat on the ground; never both at the same time. I'll also echo the comments about her carrying her weight very well....once she's rolling. Good luck.

If you can get one foot on the ground your good to go, you can only fall one direction at a time.

I'm 5'2 with a 30 inch inseam. I took my seat to have some foam removed, removed all the rubber bumpers, and the plastic height adjuster. I can tip toe in both sides. No issues with vibration on the seat. Bike definently feels lighter than it is.

Seat hight should be zero consideration when purchasing a bike. I have a 30" inseam and can plant at least one foot on any bike. It is very important to remember there is no reason to be stopped and both feet on the ground at same time. Simply slide your butt off to the side you want your foot to be. Keep the other foot planted firmly on the peg.

FWIW, I run my seat in the high position with a rising link and this bike still feels low to the ground.

I ordered the Yamaha low seat when I bought the bike. I am 5`6 and I can get all toes on the ground. No drops yet. There is a guy in Florida that can resculpture the seat. I had it done on several bikes. I`ll probably send mine to him this winter.

Sliding the fork tubes up 3/8” above the triple tree helped me. My seat is a Terry Adcock and he lowered it as much as he could without sacrificing comfort.
At 5’7” 31” inseam its still a bit tall and I’ve been in tricky situations a few times, but I still enjoy the bike very much.
I have only dropped it once and it’s not as heavy to pickup as a FJR so that’s a plus.

For anybody that's worried about the seat height:
The person that recorded this video was trying to make fun of the rider. To ME, it just made the rider look like a total bad ass. I respect the hell out of ANYBODY that doesn't let obstacles get in the way. By the way....the rider is one of my mechanics at my dealer; fantastic human being.

I'm 5.4, and just bought a s10, raided 1000 miles with oem seat no problem. But bought the oem low seat, and I can almost flat one foot. It's a matter of getting comfortable, and the low seat it's less fat in my opinion. And yes, when u start riding it feels like a super light bike.

30" inseam here, zero issues riding the S10. Usually keep the seat in the low position around town as it's that much easier to back it up while sitting on it when parking.
