Shame on the OEM skidplate welder.

Hey guys!

I’ve got a few days of from work and figured this would the moment for winter maintenance. All is going well, nothing special until now. While cleaning the parts that come off I noticed one weld on the OEM skidplate that isn’t welded at all, in fact the part is 50% loose. For the price of these parts the welder should get a proper kick to the behind! What kind of quality check is there at the manufacturer?

I was warned by several members including @~TABASCO~ that the OEM isn’t the best because of the way it bolts to the engine. I don’t ride hardcore off-road so it could work fine for me but this is a big disappointment. I’ll weld it myself.

Maybe more members should check their plates, just a heads-up. It’s the left front bracket.

Ya, I ordered a set of crash bars from SW MOTECH for my Super Tenere.
I got home, unwrapped the bars and observed a join where of the welds, was very incomplete.
Always take the time to give anything you are putting on your bike a very close inspection.

SW Motech products are very good quality, as I have SW Motech crash bars on my Africa Twin and I have a rear SW Motech tail plate to install.

Oh yes, I returned the crash bars to the dealer where I purchased them, and they ordered another pair all all goo.
My point was, upon receiving your add-ons or "farklez" be sure to look everything over carefully.
