Sena Microphone wind noise

Wind and radios do not mix well. Even with a noise cancelling boom mic, with a foam bootie, there are times they can't understand a word I said.

Yes to the foam, yes to the positioning to the left of the center vent. I have ancient 20S system with the spouse. I still need to make sure it's right against my lip and pointed the correct way, but otherwise good at any speed. That said, helmet choice makes a big difference too.

I have a Sena10s and use the wired mike hidden behind the cheekpad on a Showing Neotec works great.

The 20S, despite being ancient at this point, was probably the biggest technology upgrade in their lineup. Even compared to all of their fancy new stuff a 20S is probably the best of all of their products for the money. It was the first device that came with active noise cancelling. My wife had the SMH10 for a few years and I had to get rid of it. The wind noise was so obnoxiously loud in my helmet it was unusable (Wired OR boom mic, I even got her a chin skirt with zero improvement). I got an 10U for my GT-air and put a second clamp kit on her helmet for the 20S. I also have a Shoei Hornet X2 that has a clamp kit as well so I can switch it around when I take the KTM out.

@Defekticon - How do you like the 10U at this point? My 20S control pod is falling apart and one speaker has failed , so I'm going to have to break down at some point and buy a new Sena unit. Not really wanting to drop big cash right now. (just bad timing with other things going on in life)

I can't explain why but the speakers in the 10U sound better. Have more bass than the 20s speakers. Sena says they're the same speakers. Maybe it's just the difference in helmet design of the GT-Air vs the Hornet x2. Sena also has some new remotes that are better than the one that comes with the 10u. It's a great unit, and no one can actually see that you have a sena which can be a plus.

My problem with my 20S is that if you have more than two people added, it becomes a constant open mike. With just two people, there is music until someone speaks. Do I have it set wrong?

Ditch the boom mic and get the wired mic. Also your helmet has a lot to do with it. A touring helmet with no visor would be preferred
