I have a 2018 Honda Goldwing that has electronically adjustable suspension. Unfortunately, Honda decided to tie the 3 damping settings to the ride modes, stiffest damping in Sport mode, medium in Tour mode and softest in Rain mode. I would like to uncouple the damping from the modes, there is a vendor currently selling a uncouple kit, it simply disconnects the damping stepper motors and caps the connectors to make them weather proof, so the damping remains where you last set it regardless of what ride mode you select from now on. This has no ill effects to the bike, no flashing icon or error codes even tho it is a canbus system.
I would like to be able to switch the stepper motors on and off at will, so I can select Rain (softest) damping and switch it off then go to Tour mode for the smoothest ride when I have a passenger (Rain mode is really gutless). Then turn the switch on to be able to select Sport (stiffest) damping for solo spirited riding.
The stepper motors appear identical front and rear, each have 4 wires, black, blue, red and white. The wiring diagram shows all four wires going to a control module, with a connector near the shock. Black goes to battery negative, could I just interrupt the black wire with an on/off switch to disable the stepper motors? Or would the power still being supplied with the other wires cause a problem?
No wires will be cut, I'll buy mating connectors to splice into the harness with the black being switched and the other three continuing through.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Seems like switching the ground wire should work. Do you need a switch for each side or do they come together?

One shock up front and one shock for the rear, so I will need two switches, or a double pole single throw switch if I want them tied together.
