Seat mod, just take the rear four grommets out!

No idea what I have done... I ordered the 5 smaller rubber grommets for the usual seat levelling mod but they have still not arrived from Yamaha and I am off on tour tomorrow. After fiddling I put the H/L bracket to its highest and just took out the rear most four rubber grommets. It slotted in and there is no movement when I jump up and down on it etc so I am going to leave it. I am wondering if it is going to be a hard ride and the front gap is unsightly but I am more interested in comfort for the time being. I can do the proper mod if the grommets are still available from Yamaha!IMG_3317.JPGIMG_3315.JPG

I’ve had my seat mounted like that for 180,000 kms, works for me. Sometimes the seat gets loose, but still locked in, so I shove it back a bit to tighten it.

Good to know thanks. I have realised my packing is putting pressure on the seat to make it more secure...and love the yellow... cannot believe Yamaha selling a supposed colour like dirty washing white into the market LOL! Can,t wait to get mine resprayed...

I had an earlier version of your throw overs, must have bought them around 2001 for a ride to Morocco and back on my AT. They were brilliant, still got them and all the zips still work properly and no tears or damage to them, truly 'lifetime luggage' as advertised.. As you can see, I don't pack as well as you.

Exchange the thin rubber pad at the front of the seat with one of the grommets you removed. It will keep the seat pushed back and tight.

I bought my bags in 2005, yes great gags about £100, crazy prices for bags these days! Absolutely love that bike, worth good money now. That is what I am looking out for next or similar in Yamaha guise.

We are lucky the Triumph Tiger 800 seats are terrible and there is nothing you can do to cure it. They make you feel like your sitting on your nuts.
