I use the OK button to start and stop my day.Green Spot marks are for "OK" pings, orange are for normal automatic tracking pings. Some riders like to hit an OK at a bonus stop. It's possible sometimes that a bonus requires that, but I have not read the bonus pack this year. Most likely it's just rider preference.
FWIW - When I ride with a Spot, I hit OK at bonus locations and any time I stop for a break longer than about 10 minutes. At the end of the day I hit Custom, which will show as Green or some other color different than tracking. (It's been a while and I don't look at my own Spotwalla page very often). My custom message says that I am at my destination for the day and stopped safely. It makes my wife happy if I'm riding solo. Some riders do that reversed, using the OK for end of day spot ping and custom for bonuses.
There is one KTM 1190 ridden by a rider from UT in the mix. 4 Super Tens, a KLR and the 2 Africa Twins. What kind of ride did you think this was? I hope the KTM guy does ok. I hope the ATs don't get too many flats, but only because they are friends of mine. What possessed someone to do the IBR on a bike with tubes is beyond me. I think the guy on the '86 GL650 is even tubeless. (there are a LOT of mods to that bike!) Probably not the Water Buffalo, but he's now out of the rally. He finished in '17 with no drama though, so he knows his beast well.Good lord all the bikes in the rally are couches!! There is not one dual sport. Only thing that comes close are a few Africa Twins.

1983 Honda ruling the technology.... So what happened in 2018? The first Africa Twins were also shaft drive. Someone is giving them bad advice!83 650 Silverwing is tubeless by default.
I can understand chain & sprockets on the AT. Being able to change gearing is a plus and if you give your chain a little love it will serve you well for a long time. I will never understand the tube type wheels. Someone was asleep at the switch with that one.1983 Honda ruling the technology.... So what happened in 2018?
