At least for me the Spotwalla thing seems to have quit working.
Have you refreshed the page by reloading it, not just clicking on the spotwalla green tab?

Still seems to be working fine for me.

Of increasing note is that riders are cutting bonuses to get back on time. Both in leg one and two. This speaks mainly of how slow the roads are that they are going down for bonus locations. This will continue for the third leg, so time will tell if they are learning to plan better, understanding that it's taking longer than what their mapping software is telling them to get in and out of these locations.

Of the 20 or so riders not on the public spotwalla page, at least one went North on Leg 2. One of the riders for leg 3 appears to have left early, probably losing points for the rest bonus in order to get down the road to a large bonus that requires more time.

If they are, it's unlikely they will make it to Greenville on time. They may have just figured out they are DNF either way. Not making the bonus that allowed you to skip CP 2/mandatory bonus is DNF. Time barred is DNF.
Looks like they are heading West, after resting in Dawson City. Tuk is hard, even when not on the clock.

West is to Chicken over TOW Hwy. I suspect they were waiting for conditions to improve. Riding an FJR. Not exactly the tool for mud/snow/gravel, thought lord knows I've done plenty of that on a FJR. 3 hours after it stops raining the TOW is dramatically improved.

Yes have tried refreshing many times but nothing seems to change. Everything else seems to be working fine, it’s only the public Spotwalla link that doesn’t seem to be working for me, it hasn’t worked since last night.

You know I have tried that Sotwalla and it is really a pain in the butt to navigate and keep from crashing. I gave up on it years ago. With my SPOT device I have really good luck with the good old SPOT Share location services. It might not help for this IB Rally, but something to think about in the future. Very stable and OK/help buttons are almost instant received after they are sent. This with my Gen 3. I'm still waiting for the SPOT X bugs to be worked out before getting one.

Did you try another browser? I kept running across sites Internet Explorer couldn't open, so now I'm using Google Chrome more and more.

Most people don't have issues with Spotwalla. It's a free service run by a LD rider and he donates a lot of his time. He's usually pretty quick to get back to people if they ping him with issues too. The site saves tracks forever at this point in time, Vs Spot's site deleting them after a set time period, IIRC.

These Spotwalla pages are set up specifically for the IBR with different metrics too. I've used Spot and Spotwalla since about 2011. I typically make a trip for 10 years and then make shorter trips for individual events as needed. The long trip link goes to family only. That way I can tweak shorter trips for specific needs like rallies where they want to see everything, or vaca trips where I may not want people to see my speed, etc. or want different secure zones.

New daily reports HERE. Day 7 and 8 are now up.

Should be interesting to learn what convinced the 4 or 5 riders to head for Alaska .

Looks like maybe a bunch of them are going to cross into Mexico.
There are no Mexico bonuses. That doesn't mean there are not bonuses very close to the border though. There are one or two Mexican riders in this year's IBR, IIRC.

Someone is facing big miles from pretty near Anchorage to Greenville. 4200 miles, to Friday morning. Is this even possible?
4284 miles in 72 hours of riding. Possible? There are 77.5 hours left before DNF. Possible, but unlikely. Sleep, gas stops, unknowns. If the bonus they got in AK was one of the ones you had to have to skip the second stop in Kennewick, that was a big risk.

Trust me, EVERYONE will be happier when those riders are back in the US and closer to Greenville. Even if they DNF, getting back safely is on everyone's mind. There are a lot of riders dealing with adversity this rally. The 2-up riders on a Super Ten are getting a new tire now. Presumably for the replacement wheel. At least they were able to find a tire.

It’s going to be interesting hearing about the Alaska bonuses, they all seemed to be sitting still for quite a while up there.
A lot of riders passing through Wisconsin today.

One of them is still 3400 miles out. I think a fresh rider might make it, but it would be a 52 hour, absolutely nothing goes wrong run. The three that are close to Edmonton might make it though, if they run hard and nothing goes wrong.

I appreciate the updates and really good info Eric. I would have never guessed it would be hard to find a tire that can last a whole 10,000 mile ride. After seeing what most of the group is riding I'm convinced a lightweight machine has a much better chance to finish.
