I've seen at least three versions of the same message and there's a thread somewhere around here if you search for it.

Hahaha! No, I never wanted the R1250GS, I don’t trust the shift cam, but I have thought about the R1200GS but without the TFT and some other bells and whistles. To be honest, it is the thought of all the bells and whistles that puts me off. Well that and the fact that each time I ride my S10 I question my sanity about changing it! :)
On that topic, I am still a member on the UKGSer site, ever since I owned an R1150GS back in 2004, and recently, I have noticed that quite a few on that site either own or have owned or have recently bought themselves an S10 and there are an awful lot of R1250GS for sale. ;)
I have a 2019 R1250GS that has ShiftCam with just over 15,000 miles with no troubles at all!!

I had a 2007 & a 2013 R12GS in the past & I must admit, I REALLY miss the 07' GS which had custom fit Yacugar Shocks front/rear that handled like a sport bike. Aside from a leaky drive shaft seal which I fixed myself, it ran perfectly for over 38k miles. On the other hand, 13' GS (1st gen H2O cooled) had some wierd sensor/electronic issue that dealers were unable to figure out at that time but were happy to charge me for their 'time'. Cam chain tensioner which wouldn't maintain proper tension & coolant leaks x 2 with only 27k miles. I was basically a 'genie pig' for BMW on the 1st gen model. I miss the 'hp', but my S10 is much easier to ride on gravel road compared to the GS. It's comfy and gets super good mileage compared to either GS. So, I'm pretty happy with my S10.
