Hello everyone I've recently bought back my 2014 ES. It has the Rumbux skid plate and bars. I used to use Mobil 1 m1-108 oli filter because of tight spacing. But now it's 108a and longer. What are you guys using?

Only filter I've ever used with my Rumbux. Over two dozen of them used so far. Still plenty of clearance. I always change filters with skid plate removed. Not sure if filter could be removed with skid plate on.

I’ve used Fram, SuperTech,Honda and Yamaha filters but mostly the $3 SuperTech, believing a 1/2 inch longer filter will work better is mostly just BS.
Fortunately my Goldwing, Super Tenere and Kubota lawnmower all use the same filter.

I have just ran into the same issues with Yamaha filters. I got a couple new ones a while back. I called back and told them that the part number has a 71 at the end and not the 60 i was using. They said it was an updated filter. I changed the oil last weekend and found it won't work with my skid plate. I had some of the 60's at the house an just put that on and i will figure it out later because i am planning trip pretty soon. the new filter is longer. I have trouble mashing the shorter filter! I have to build a real skid plate and frame to hold it. I will probably say that till i bust the oil pan one day. haha.

I never use non OEM oil filters on any of my bikes. A guy on the Zx14r forum did an experiment by cutting open and inspecting the inners of several pattern filters and comparing them with OEM. The differences were huge. So much so that most of them were not capable of performing in the same way as OEM. Different number of pleats, different number and size of holes, different valve spring lengths etc.
