Curious if you can point your toes down in these boots? I’m super short and I can barely touch one foot tippy toe at a time. Motorcross boots make it impossible to tippy toe and I was known for just dropping g my dirt bike because I could t get on the right side of gravity haha.
You can, but not a lot of movement in that direction.
The plastic Shell has pivot-hinges to pivot the ankle in a "walking" direction, but it limits the movement in the other direction.

I would be fine riding alone but with the wife in the back I’m going to have to stick to the touring boots I think.

I also have a pair of MSR Adventure Boots.
I will wear them when I ride to work, or if I'm going on a pavement-only ride or maybe a mild farm-road.
They are definitely a "Value" Boot, and offer very little protection other than being leather for abrasion-resistance.
They are crazy comfortable to walk around in, I'll give them that.

Lots of folks ride pavement-only, so that may be a more comfortable option for them.
I definitely take my Bike to places that most people wouldn't, and I honestly don't feel safe wearing that boot in those conditions.
Everyone's idea of protection-level is different though, so my preferences are not going to align with someone else's.
If you love the boots that you are wearing, and feel that level of protection is right for you, that's great! At least you are thinking about protection, and wearing Boots.
The number of riders I see out on the roads wearing nothing but tennis-shoes is "Mind-Bottling"! ;)

Correct the MSR are definitely an Adventure boot not an Off Road boot. However I disagree with "very little protection" in comparison to a non riding boot, street boot (not road racing) or hiking boot. They have better protection than my Gaerne G-Adventure and equal protection to my Gaerne All Terrain boots. My off road boots are Gaerne SG-12 which offer more protection than the Fastback Enduro but are extremely uncomfortable for walking and not waterproof at all. There is always a compromise to be made over different riding types.

Bought a pair of these boots--though not a crush resistant boot, Jim Green barefoot ranger boots allow for a wide forefoot and breath really well, no liner, I could feel the air moving through the boot while riding the bicycle. Soft rubber sole. I like the Keen footwear and if these work for you the Jim Green boots should be a good fit. Sizing was right on. They also have the trooper boot with 8" height. Should be good hot weather boots and comfortable to walk in. For every 10 boots purchased they donate a pair to the African Rangers.
