Glad to see more folks hitting the road! So far, I've made it up to near Minneapolis where I stopped due to lightning. Other than that, it's been clear sailing. I took a day off Tuesday in Hannibal, Missouri to take in a little American History (Mark Twain's boyhood home); had a great time. I've got my camping gear, but am staying in budget hotels until camping becomes an absolute necessity. So far I've added Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota to my States Traveled map. Iowa is as flat as Florida...and windy! They had some of those windmill farms there. Trust me, good place for them. Today I'm heading to Minot, North Dakota (the half-way point of this trek up to Whitehorse) then crossing the border Friday in Portal, North Dakota. Safe travels everyone!

I made it from NJ to Yorkville, Illinois on my first day, 930 miles.
I'm crossing the border in Portal too but not sure if it will be tomorrow, having new tires installed tomorrow. :)

I'm too tired now having risen 930 in one day but tomorrow going to look up where you are, maybe we can still meet along the way.
I'm in Yorkville, IL.
Will be in Cameron, WI tomorrow afternoon.

Looks like I will be about 600km west of you guys. Going to be doing a day trip into Glacier National Park on Saturday. I think it's about 2300km to Whitehorse from Waterton Lakes. Ride safe guys.

I'm officially in Canada! ::012::

Yup, I rode up from Minot, North Dakota and went through the border crossing at Portal this morning at around 8AM Central Time. There was no one in line. Clear sailing. From there I shot up to Saskatoon where I'm spending the night. Then tomorrow there's a little town southeast of Edmonton that I'm going to visit for personal reasons. It's off the track, but I won't be through here again. Still, right on schedule if not a little ahead of schedule. As of today I've clocked 2468 miles. Plus, I've been getting some sightseeing in as much as possible. The weather has been pretty terrific, except for that blip in Minneapolis. Bike's running great! Damn...I'm really having a good time! :)

Well done, Twitcher ... eh? Yeah, gotta watch out for those big guys. Be very careful ... they will appear to be heading off to the other side of the road, and then suddenly stop and turn around and right back the way they came. They're bad for that. Carry on. You aren't far now. R ::012::

Yea, I ran into that storm yesterday too, rain for about one hour, then it cleared and it was beautiful.

Had new tires mounted today in Cameron, WI and now I'm spending the night at a friends house. Tomorrow start heading towards Portal. :)

Looks like you're rolling in right behind me. The crossing into Saskatchewanh at Portal is a snap. When you see what's on the other side for the first couple hundred miles, you'll know why.

I'm keeping a close eye on my Battlewings. So far they're holding up pretty good, but these roads up here have some rough-grainy surface that looks like it would be rough on tires. Pretty sure I'll make it...the boys up at Yukon Yamy have my Heidenaus and I'm on their calendar for next Friday.

Yukon Ho!

I was endowed with my Heidenaus last week. You'll like 'em. The YY boys do a good job. Rick greases the gears and applies some high tech anti-corrosive stuff to the axle.

I just tried to order the Toureg man tank pad from Yukon Yamaha. I said I needed it in time for the Yamaha Super Tenere Gathering. The parts said he had not heard of that event and I replied thatMr Parts Guy you're sponsoring it . He said he wasn't. I said OK then your dealership is. Mr Parts Guy then began to have some vague idea of the dates and told me . He said would take over two weeks to get the part. Japan I asked. No, Toronto he said Maybe he was having a busy day or using Yukon humour. ::024::

It's only a matter of time before you see Moose, Whitetail deer, Mule deer, Rocky Mountain Sheep, Black bear, Grizzly, Caribou, Mountain goat, Coyote, Wolves ... did I miss something?

Oh yes, welcome to Alberta!

You weren't talking to THE Mr. Parts Guy. they have a skeleton crew on Saturdays. You got a flunky. Give Doug C. a buzz on Monday .... he'll know the score. But they do have to get stuff out of Ontario, and it takes time. This guy obviously didn't know squat so check in with Doug on Monday. I'll do the same. R

I got on the road this morning about 10. Only rode 300 miles today to Gillette WY, but it felt like at least twice that! The last 100 miles or so the thermometer was showing 106 degrees! Too darn hot for me and tomorrow into Missoula will be more of the same.

Good to see you are on your way. Are you riding either of these routes?
