If you are looking to hook up with riders on their way to the rally try posting or reposting here. I was getting lost trying to keep track of it on the main thread.

Good idea to start a thread like this!
As for me, I'm just now starting to work on some route ideas.

:)

I'd suggest north, but you do what you want. R ::012:: ::012:: ::025:: ::025:: ::025:: ::015::

Okay, looking at some options..... I have never been up through the center of BC. Highways 97/16/37 seem to be a fairly good option. Anyone taken this approx route and if so, any words of wisdom. I have friends in Vernon and may make that one of my stops. I've also heard that Dease Lake and the side trip to Telegraph Creek is a "must see".

Kicking around a departure from Loveland on or about June 25th (Monday) which should put me into Whitehorse along about Saturday, June 30.

Probably camp where possible, mainly to save on expenses, unless I end up riding with someone else and can share motel expenses.

Rod, let me know where you plan to cross the border. Regarding Telegraph Creek, Yeah, that's on my bucket list. Supposed to be splendiferous. BUT ... never, never ride that road with even high humidity, much less forecast of rain. Apparently is it deadly when wet. Seriously deadly. It follows a canyon and can be treacherous. Make sure it's an awesome day if you go.

Highways 16 and 37 ... for sure. 16 is lovely farm land with mountains in the background. Gorgeous. It will be a little flatish coming out of Prince George, but once past Vanderhoof, it just keeps getting nicer. 97 should be fine. You can't really get ugly scenery in B. C.

Colorider, if your entering Canada through the Spokane area a very good route to Vernon is Creston along Kootenay lake via hwy 3a to Nelson, Nakusp and to Vernon on Hwy 6. A great ride through there.
We are leaving on the 14th for a ride further north before attending the rally and are taking the 16-37 Cassiar hwy. Planning on the 97 route south on our return. Nice to be able to go one route and return another. Cassiar 37 route is a little less travelled, but very scenic and well worth it.
Good to know about the changeable road conditions to Telegraph Creek, thanks Rem.
Just have to keep reminding ourselfs the bikes might get a few tanks of regular as premium
can be scarce in the more remote areas up north.

I plan on leaving Seattle area on Jun 27 and traveling thru Pemberton to Lillooet, then the unpaved to Williams Lake, depending on time more unpaved to Vanderhoof, then 37 to Whitehorse. I am flexible on the time and route if someone wants to tag along.

A list of places Lake Tahoe, Pyramid Lake, Cedarville, Tulelake History Museum, Klamath Falls, Bend, Redmond, Terrebonne, Madras, Hwy 26, Vale and the area, Boise, Hwy 55, McCall, NF39, Wallowa Lake SP, Enterprise, Clarkston / Lewiston, maybe Hwy 12 / St Joe River Road Loop, Spokane, staying with friends at St Edward SP in Kenmore, visiting HoebSTer in Issaquah, Lake Wenatchee, Lake Chelan, Palmer Lake, crossing over at Oroville,...

...hoping to share the roads through BC. Arriving Whitehorse June 29th.

If any of you want to camp around my place, let me know. I'll send you directions. You can throw a tent anywhere, I have water, and a fairly big garage with a decent assortment of basic tools. I live several miles out of town, so it's remote. Pretty quiet. No one to bug you. Except bugs. The occasional bear. R

Looks like I may cross at Laurier WA. I naver have crossed there before, so not sure what to expect (actually, I have never really has much of an issue crossing into Canada - it's coming back that seems to be a problem). ???

Did some more work on a route. Again, assuming I leave here on the 25th, that night in Gillette WY, next night in Missoula MT, next night in Vernon BC, next night in Vanderhoof BC, next night in Iskut BC and into Whitehorse on Saturday the 29th (I think there are that many days in the week....).

Yeah, the Canucks won't bother you much. I'm not that familiar with southern B. C.. Looks like you have a couple of long hauls in there. I'll be staying in Vanderhoof. I have friends there. I'll try to get the name of a good motel. Vanderhoof to Iskut is another long haul. There is a place in Iskut called the Iskut Motor Inn I think .. something like that. Decent place. Up on a hill to the right (east) if you're going north. From there, it's a good 460 miles to Whitehorse. Don't stop at the Beaver Post Lodge just after turning left on the Alaska Highway. Rancheria is ok. Teslin has a good restaurant ... first place on the right after the bridge. But no premium. Go another couple hundred yards down the highway on the left ... premium gas there. Then an easy kick in to Whitehorse. I'm this side. I'll send you directions. R

I've been hassled by the US more than once coming back in. Maybe I just LOOK guilty!!!

I tried to lay it out so each day is about 450 to 475 miles. Those are easy days in most conditions. The daylight hours are longer up there, but the speed limits are lower, so need to factor that in as well.

I've been running regular more than premium in mine and had not adverse problems (so far).

Thanks for all the travel info!!! Much appreciated!

By that time of year, you will have about 20 or so hours of functional daylight, and for the other four, there will be a very bright spot in the sky. It all depends on your proximity to the mountains. But you will not be in darkness at any time. In Yukon, I wouldn't worry too much about your speed. I don't know about B. C. Your biggest hazard up north will be wildlife and other drivers. Both are pretty stupid. ::008:: R

Yes, I like the longer hours of daylight. Hopefully my new saddle will provide me the comfort to take advantage of the additional daylight!

Really appreciate all the good trip info. This is pretty overwhelming to say the least, never heard of any of the hiway numbers or points of interest. Lots to study here. I have some maps. This is starting to cut into my golf time, LOL.

Jan, you and Sharon I reckon are going to run the radios?

I'm still up in the air with tire choices, right now, going with annakee 2 front, with PR2 rear and pack my half worn K60 rear to change on the trip.

Hope to camp some with an occasional motel.

I've mentioned it before, but REMember that things are busy up here in the summer. Try to book ahead for motels, even if it's just early that same morning. Two or three days is better if possible. There is a lot of travel in this neck of the woods in summer, and the motels can fill up quickly. R ::001::

Thanks for the heads up. I will most likely get eaten by a bear in the woods someplace.

Okay, that was supposed to be funny, but on retrospect, not so much.
