Rev Limiter

Was playing around with a buddy out in the country that just picked up a Tenere. We did a couple of little blasts and I got the revs up past the redline, but never hit the rev limiter. My question is what is your tach showing when you hit the rev limiter on the Tenere. I don't think I have ever hit it. I know on some bikes the tach is optimistic.

I have never hit the rev limiter , my 2013 did have a redline indicator but I don’t think I ever reached it. My 2018 does not even have a red line indicator. I pretty much outgrew the redline urge years ago but both of my Tenere’s have been past 120 mph indicated.

I can't remember if I've reached "red line" on the Tenere. I usually shift when I feel the power drop off. No sense increasing the RPMs if you're out the power band. The ST had a limiter set at 120mph in top gear; the fuel pump would shut off. But, the fuel pump would also shut off in 1st thru 4th if the RPMs hit "red line". The ST would pull hard all the way, with no power drop, 'till the fuel pump shut off.

I believe 8100 is indicated, 8500 just bounces off the limiter.

I thought it was to tell you to change up !
I used to have an RX-7. Redline was 7K. . . . max hp was 6.5K. It had a beep that sounded at redline, that was basically telling you to shift. The manual actually had a caution: "prolonged operation above 7k rpms may cause damage." Prolonged? May? Greatness. :)

Tabasco, I was thinking that might be the case. I've been chickening out.

I don't think I've ever hit the rev limiter on the Super T. It's got so much torque around 5 - 6k rpm, I tend to shift well before getting the revs to the limiter :)

I took a new FD for a test ride when I owned my 300 rwhp turbo miata. The poor salesman kept screaming "what's that buzzer?!" After the test ride he was sure I'd buy. I explained that it would take several thousand dollars to bring the FD twin turbo up to the current performance level of my Miata, so not really interested. He laughed. So I opened the hood and showed him the fully custom engine/turbo build and started listing the ceramic coatings, custom pistons, H beam rods, etc.

I've hit the rev limit on the S10 a few times in second gear, hammering a pass or on ramp maneuver where traffic dynamics suddenly changed. Never noticed what the tach actually was reading then, I was a little focused on what was going on around me.

That sounds like a killer Miata. I auto-crossed with some guys had had done theirs up, and they were Q_U_I_C_K! :D

I've run mine up to 8K a few times. I never felt any rev limiter. Mine has been flashed. Don't know if that makes any difference

Hit mine once. Sort of startled me. Lots of midrange torque in these engines so no real need to rev them like that.

My 2018 Tenere reminded me the rev limiter was there the other day.
Some bozo in a very new Corvette was showing off, so at the new stop light I placed her in sport mode and on the green light, he began to roll so I let her go and boxed his ears, man you reach 7,800 revs in hurry!

Because of the flash and engine braking change i tend to use the gears more if im going for it and let it rev a bit its not going to harm it
