For me, Tracer900 is the same TDM900. Yes, on the asphalt, I will specify, very good asphalt, you feel confident. But this is if you are alone. One has only to seat the passenger, handling, braking immediately worsens. Well, if you find yourself on a dirt road and a generally bad road, even on bad asphalt, then this is no longer pleasure, but torture. And the center of gravity will not please you either.
I owned a TDM900 for 5 years. At no point did I consider it to be torture to ride it on bad roads (its long stroke suspension soaked up bumps well), or even the occasional dirt road while going to a campsite. The Tracer seems competent enough in that regard that people put bash plates on them.

Eu fiz isso, troquei o ST pelo Tracer GT. Consegui ficar um ano e não aguentei. Peguei o ST de volta. O ST para mim é único.

My ST is going next spring to be replaced by a Tracer 9 GT. The ST is just too big for a lightweight like me and I'm not getting any younger. I have dropped her three times during ownership and have been lucky enough to have someone help me get her up again. I wished there was a shaft drive mid range bike with the same ergonomics as the ST.
coudl do a guzzi V7 or something... or an R9T... that just gets you further from the yamaha reliability though.

the tracer definitely has me interested. I hear so much good about that triple. Honestly an o-ring chain and something like a scott oiler if you really wanna go nuts and it's a really solid setup. i do love the shafty for its lack of fussing on trips though.

The new GT is something I might consider next year, I love my S10 but its so heavy to push around, I have to do a 3 point turn up a slope to get it back in the garage and something lighter is appealing to me. The chain isn't a concern, all of my bikes prior to the S10 had a Scott Oiler and chain maintenance wasn't an issue at all.

Will have a good look at the new one when it's released.

So, went to sit on a few bikes today:
Triumph Tiger 900 GT - felt light and ergonomics felt good
BMW F900XR - felt heavier than it looked, seat was not up to the job, lean forward to much for me
Yamaha Tracer 900 GT - felt light, lean forward a little to much for me, too high
Ducati 950 - Gorgeous looking, way to high with no adjustment, too top heavy

Came home, went to the garage looked at the Super T and said "you're staying baby"

I want to know where you went to get to sit on 4 bikes! The dealerships around here don’t seem to want to know. I have had a test ride booked on a BMW F900XR since last February and they won’t even let me in the showroom! I asked a local Yamaha dealership for a test ride on a Tracer 900 GT, (just before the new 9GT was announced), while my S10 was being serviced a couple of weeks ago and he came up with all kinds of lame excuses. I went to a trusted independent for the service instead!

Cheltenham for Triumph and BMW
Worcester for Yamaha and Ducati

You would be lucky to find a Tracer locally as most of the dealers sell primarily side by sides and atvs with motorcycles a much lower priority. The local BMW dealer is great and will let you ride anything anytime.

I visted Romney last month and the place looked as empty as I've ever seen it. I doubt he had 15 bikes there. Most of the ATV and UTV units were gone as well. The owner tells me most new units (of anything) that he can get never hit the sales floor. They are pre-sold and go out as soon as they are assembled. He's thinking it will be many, many months before the manufactures can catch up to have units on the sales floor for people to see.

I went to JT'S in Swansea a weeks ago with a pupil who was looking for 'something' after her FZ8 was written off. We took out Tracer 900 and 700 and a Strom 650. There was no pressure but they were keen to keep the ride to 30 mins or so. The only thing is they were used bikes as opposed to new demo bikes. She went back 2 weeks later and bought a 17 plate Tracer 900, we went out for a spin yesterday, nice looking bike and so much lighter than my S10.

I bought my new S10 in 2016 after test riding a used Gen1 bike as I couldn't find a demo bike but I'm keen to try a 2021 900GT when they are available next year.

I use Clydach Auto Centre, it is a small concern owned and run by a bike enthusiast for bikers. He charged me less than half the Yamaha main dealer, (not JTs in Swansea I hasten to add), quoted me, “although it could be more” and I am confident that everything was done correctly according to the service schedule.

By the way, one of the excuses given by the Yamaha dealer that I was going to go to was “we can’t give you a loan bike only a demonstrator, but the demonstrator has a £1000.00 excess and the insurance only lasts for half an hour or so”.

The 2015 I sat on had me on the balls of my feet with my 30" inseam, exactly where my S10 does with the seat in the low position. The handlebar position also felt similar despite my S10 having helibar risers. Not sure if I will replace the already paid for S10 with the new Tracer, but I will definitely be giving it a good test ride when it's released in Japan.

I changed from S10 to GT and love it!
S10 was comfortable to ride but moving that lump in and out of my shed was getting too much for these old bones!
GT is more sporty with stiffer suspension, probably not flattening the bumps like the S10:p pegs are further back but I like that.
The engine is a peach, it just wants to go! Screen not great but ok, seat slopes forward like S10, why do Yamaha do that!
Oh and that engine! Did I mention that:cool:
