Please do not start this rumor. 100% false. Rekluse is not going to have an auto clutch anytime soon for the Super Tenere. It's just not worth it when there are other ones available for the bike.

I have been using Rekluse clutches for many years on a few different bikes. They require a lot of maintenance, adjustments, and ongoing replacement parts to keep the clutch pack in shape. And auto clutches are extremely hard on the baskets. So I would have to think really hard if it is worth the hassle.

Hi Chris - I don't think its a rumor as the info came directly from Rekluse - that said Ive had 3 Rekluse clutches - WR450, CRF450X and CRF450R and never had an issue with any of them.

I too have run rekluse clutches on my dirt bikes CRF450X, CRF250X and WR450 and never had any issues, need adjustement every now and then, but very easy to do and no spare parts ever needed, the older models with all the loose ball bearings where more awkward to setup and maintain, the later models are much better.. My biggest complaint is how much the clutch drags with the rekluse, they are great in dirt but on the road I found it made selecting neutral difficult and prefered the stock clutch for all road riding. Don't think I would put one on a Super T, but that's just me!!

Please, in all seriousness, explain what you mean by that.

I'm confused....why would I want an auto-clutch? Not critiquing, just asking.
For our type of riding it's not needed at all. The Rekluse is made for really hard core/nasty off road terrain such as rock crawling and those trails that require a lot of clutch use. It's a great product. I currently have it on my Beta. In fact the only real issues with my Beta have all been clutch related. I kind of got lazy and ran both my Core clutches to the bone until they were not working anymore. I'm on my 3rd set of plates, second clutch basket, and third Core clutch pack at only 300 hours. Since maintaining it (and not riding as harsh trails anymore) it's lasting a lot longer. But this requires teardown at no more than every 50hrs, checking the teflon pads and replacing as needed.

I ran my my 1st one (Core 2.0 version) until it would not shift anymore when stopped. The balls were blue and melted grooves in the base plate:
Blue balls and grooves are destroyed:

Core 3.0 had worn teflon pads, glazed and burned friction plates and Rekluse drive plate. Teflon was gone rubbing metal to metal at under 60hrs:

Basket had cracks all the way around and the dampers were shot. I attribute this to all the rock crawling and popping the clutch to get over rocks. Not to mention running the bike over 300deg for extended periods of time.

As you can see these clutches are not the best thing since sliced bread as some would have you believe. Very labor intensive to keep them in shape when compared to an OEM clutch pack.

Would they be that labor/material intensive if NOT driven like your Beta? I've never driven a dirt bike, but I've done plenty of cone courses....constant clutch work. Wonder how it would work on those. But, you're right, I wasn't seeing the advantage for me....and now I know the "why". Thank you.

Under normal trail riding conditions Rekluse clutches are very durable and long lasting. The product rears its ugly head when you are in "survival mode" and letting the auto clutch do all the work.

Funny how the different type of riding is we do. I have pretty much zero experience with cone courses. I struggle at any kind of slow speed on this beast in parking lots!! I actually find it easier to control this heavy machine with my hand modulating the clutch. I can see getting in trouble quickly with an auto clutch on a 600lb bike.

I want to add that all these pictures of clutch and this one are from a few years back. I cannot imagine going back to that kind of riding anymore. It's not even fun. It sucks actually. Here is an example of just pure extreme torture. Right after this picture, me and a few others had to ride another riders bike out because he was talked into riding way over his head. The ride leader was an outstanding and skilled rider. But a horrible human being. He left all of us behind to help this poor guy get his bike out. The jerk of a ride leader finally came back to help on the last hard section. I'm mad just thinking about it!!

Picture does no justice. Very steep and rocky trail. I'm paddling with one foot hanging off the peg!! I was so spent I about threw up after this section!! At least I had the Rekluse!! LOL

Same question I've asked about auto transmissions in cars/trucks for the last 40 years. Why would I want one? I don't, but plenty do for some reason I will never understand.

Oh I understand. It’s harder to text and drive with a stick shift in traffic.

I put a revloc clutch in my cr500 10 years ago. Never had to adjust anything. It works great. Its like cheating comin off a holeshot in second. I run in it in hair scrambles. At the end of the day. I am not near as fatigued.
