I am new to the Super Tenere and think my 2015 ES is a super bike. I became addicted to the shifting on the Honda DCT and I would really like to see a Rekluse clutch available for the Super Ten. It may require a number of inquiries to Rekluse to get them to think about developing such a unit. Their phone number is 1-866-735-5873 and their contact email is: customerservice@rekluse.com

Cheers,

Honestly. They're like $1k, for the ease of use with two up traffic riding, 100% in. Would submit deposit or take part in a pre-order group buy.

It would help if Rekluse heard some noise from all of us. I have called and emailed them twice but of course it can't all come from one person to be effective. We can only hope.

If they could be done for the big adventure bikes with hydraulic clutches, they would have one for the BMW GS WC. If you had to retrofit a GS or Tenere to become cable actuated, it would become cost prohibitive.

Here is what I wrote to Rekluse today:

Dear Sir,

I am interested in seeing a Rekluse clutch for the Yamaha Super Tenere 2015. I am currently trying to poll other owners in my group to gauge the level of interest in purchasing that product. Is there any way you can provide the questions you need answered in order to justify your development of that bike-specific product? It would be a hydraulic clutch like the one you currently provide for KTM models.

I think the Yamaha Super Tenere owners tend to be a little more affluent than most bike riders and affordability of the product may prove to be less of an issue. The current MSRP of a 2015 and 2016 Super Tenere is $16,109 for the ES model. I could only conclude that your clutches would sell well in this target group.

Regards,

I just Pinged Garry at EFM via email as well.

Let see what he thinks....

I offered to send him my oem clutch for comparison.

I sent EFM an email just a few minutes ago. Of course today is Sunday on Christmas weekend and I imagine even those elves need a day off. Let's hope they can get back to us by next week.

I have received the following from EFM and it sounds like a routine project for them:

Yes we modify the clutch you send us. Need the complete assembly and the clutch over with its screws.

Retail is 695.00 plus shipping, takes 5-7 days.

Thank you for the interest in EFM auto clutch.

I had a Rekluse on my 950 Adv. Installed it 4 days before heading to CO. It was a life saver. I've got tendonitis something fierce and working the clutch up some of those gnarly passes would have had me crying halfway up ::024::

Expensive, but money well spent. That said, there's not much to em. Simple concept and install.
I doubt my S10 will see much more than gravel, but I'd still consider it for stop n go traffic.

I spoke to Garry from EFM on the phone and he said there would be no problem with machining a clutch for the Super Tenere. I guess they need the clutch for the interior plate clutch measurements and then they need the outer cover and the screws so they can duplicate and provide the screws to the proper exact length since the clutch adds 3/8 of an inch to the clutch exterior and the screws have to be that much longer and of course have the right threads. He also told me that he does metric clutches on Monday and Tuesday. Sounds pretty routine and I am going to do it when my mechanic gets back from the holidays. I will report back after the experience is over.

When I bought the Super Tenere last week I traded in a 2006 FJR 1300AE with the clutchless shifter and I think now that I really liked it and I am a little sorry that I am now chasing down a Rekluse or EFM clutch to accomplish the same thing. I wonder why Yamaha didn't try to fit the Super Tenere with the technology that they already had for the FJR. One distinct advantage the FJR had was that the bike stayed in gear if that was how you left it when you shut the engine off and it would not roll away. And, the clutchless shifter worked for 37,000 absolutely flawless miles.

While I am on the subject does anybody know if there is a little mod available to keep the right hand brake lightly pulled in to keep the bike from rolling away when parked if using a Rekluse or EFM clutch? I visualize something like a rubber band or a Velcro strip on the right handgrip attached to a thin crampbuster turned backward and facing forward.

Sounds like they make a spacer to shim the cover out the additional room required to accommodate the new outer plate.

I would be interested in seeing a report from you down the road a piece about your Rekluse clutch. How will you like it after a couple of thousand miles?
I am guessing now that the only auto clutch I am going to get is the EFM for the Super Tenere since Rekluse doesn't have one at this time. I am curious if you have solved the problem of the bike rolling away while parked on an incline. I think using an old narrow Crampbuster facing forward on the right grip with a hook attached to slip over and put light pressure on the handbrake might solve the parking problem.
