Hi All,

Desperate for answers as I have not been able to get my 2013 s10 running this year.

Had it reflashed by ECUnleashed and now the immobilizer light is flashing three times slow then fast then repeats. I have a canadian bike and have the red key and the 2 black keys. They flashed the Gen 2 but now the fuel pump doesn't even turn on. I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

I sent it the first time to AF1 and they tried to flash and found they didn't recognize the serial number sequence so they had to forward it to ECUnleashed. Then then flashed it with the US program by mistake...when I got it up here it didn't work. They had it sent back to them and reflashed with the Immobilizer version once they realized it was a canadian bike. AF1 I gather didn't mention it. When I got it back the second time again didn't work. My worry is what ever they have done has sent a signal to the Immobilizer to stop the fuel pump and such and now worried nothing is going to work.

If I send it back ECunleashed will put it back to stock but will need to wait another week or more and again may make no difference. Was to ride the trans labrador highway but that trip is clearly not going to happen. Bike has not worked yet this year and time is ticking. So frustrating.

is the immobilizer light staying on or not coming on/behaving unusually, does it flash as it should when you switch ignition off?

my gen 2 handbook says if you get a code 52 immob fault try using the red key to start the bike?

failing that have you a dealer nearby who can re code the bike to the keys? it does sound like the ECU has been wiped of your bikes key codes

I would also still do basics like check all the fuses etc, you never know!

I'll ask the question, because you just never know........ is this YOUR ECU that was returned? Did you mark it in some way before sending it off to the first flasher?

Yes I believe it is my ECU.

Here is the back story. I sent the ECU to AF1 to flash. They were not able to do it stating the serial codes on the ECU were not a sequence that the current tune would work on. This meant they had to send it to the ECUnleashed. ECUnleashed has to drill into it and crack the code. They then tuned it and sent it to me. It didn't work so we went back and forth and then they realized it was a Canadian bike so I sent it back and they reflashed it again this time with Canadian immobilizer in mind. I then tried it for the second time and no go.

That is were we are not. Two reflashes and still not working.

The immobilizer light is operational even when the bike is not on which means in my mind it operating as it should. As for the red key it makes not difference.

If I took the bike to the dealer and the keys what would they do? It does seem to me the bike doesn't recognize the keys anymore but not sure how this could be. Bike still tries to crank and everything else works ....it is the immobilizer and ecu are not paired correctly some how?

Just hate to send it back for the third time only to have the factory tune back on the bike. This process has been going on now for 2 months. Brutal

Can thank you all enough for taking the time to try and help.

Sutol1 posted this in another thread back in December, looks like he had a lot of trouble getting it fixed.

"Also had an issue with an ECU flash that literally took the bike out of commission for 14 months. Just got the bike started 4 days ago. Don't ask."

I'm from Toronto as well, and this is my biggest fear about sending out my ECU for flashing -- I literally cannot deal with having a bike out of commision for a week, forget 14 months... I am sorry to hear about the problem!! If we had a local canadian guy who can do this I am sure it could of been resolved a lot quicker... I get the shivers just thinking about it.

Well clearly a big delay in my response....only now getting back into this forum and will be more active moving forwards. To be honest it took me this long to mentally go back to the experience but want the word out there so others can understand the risk. I will attempt to detail what happened.

- sent it in to AF1 Racing
- they tried the reflash and sent it back
- after much back and forth they realized that they treated it like a US bike which didn't have immobilize
- I tried over and over again to get them to fix it and they struggled.....
- time passed
- I tried sending messages but they seemed to dodge me and be out of the shop every time I called
- I called one final time and was told sorry they were not available said that is fine.....my lawyer will be calling next
- 2 min later I had the man in charge who indicated I should not threaten legal action and scare the receptionist.
- He agreed to forward my ECU to California at the ECU unleashed center
- they tried to fix it but took a long time.
- I got the ECU back but again it didn't work
- I was told again to send it back down
- Seems they were not able to restore the encrypted files so they sent it to Italy via Frankfort
- Italy tried but was also not able to fix it.
- it was then sent back to me.
- I was then in conversations and ECU unleashed said it was not repairable and that a new one would have to be fixed
- Given ECU unleashed was in the US they were not able to purchase it directly so it had to be sent to me from the dealer
- Once I receive I had to ship to California
- ECU unleashed then sent it to Italy via Frankfort again
- At this point my ECU has triple the mileage of the bike and I am so frustrated....lost the entire season and then some
- Lost insurance cost
- Finally I received the ECU and put the key in expecting to hear the fuel pump start but again nothing.
- I was devastated. I called them immediately and they said your on your own. I asked them what else i can do and they said sorry we are out and didn't answer my emails. I can understand their frustration as they pain 2500 for the new ECU.
- Sitting around I thought to myself perhaps I need the red key to initialize the ECU. Note no instructions came back with the box indicating any procedure to follow.
- I told my son the one thing I have not tried is the red key....I wonder.......
- Put the key in and the pump fired right up. No Seriously?
- Pushed the button and instantly it fired up and was idling. Wow. Wow Wow

In the end it was 14 or so months and it was working. AF1 not cool and very disappointing. ECU.....not their fault so appreciate they stood behind their product but could have been much faster and I should not have had to hound them for information. They refunded my tune money as well but that is it.

As for the tune it is a great product so happy it is done but wow scary journey.

It has been a while since this all happened so some of the details may be off by 2% but that is how it happen as I recall it. Hope that helps someone out there. It is a great product but All S10s are not the same. Italy and Canada apparently are.
