Hello,
I wish you all a happy new 2011.

I have a friend with a 2018 Supertenere XT 1200 ZE (European Version) with 12.000 miles that gets the right exhaust very hot (red).
It gets that way without accelerating when it gets close to the temperature that initiate the electro fan.
He is using a Leo Vince Exhaust.
The Yamaha local shop did a full maintenance, changed oil, filters and plugs. They also adjusted the CO to 15.
But the problem continues.
I attach a picture.
Any recommendation and or advice regarding of the cause of the problem and how to correct it?

The red is NOT a problem.
BUT they should be same temperature.
And yes, running too different on the cylinders, and MattR might be correct, too lean on right cylinder.

Here is a picture of mine. (taken in the dark)

First question: was that picture taken after the bike was idling in place for awhile. The first time I saw such was the one Nikolajsen posted some time in the past; same one as today. If that was taken after a ride, I might be concerned. But, if that was after idling. . . . no worries. I just wouldn't do it.

Mine don't get that hot in idle, it have to have some rpm..even in the wintergarden.
And it looks like it is daylight. (in your picture)

I think that the red-hot exhaust pipe is pretty normal under certain circumstances, I also think that the fault may well be that the darker coloured pipe may indicate either too rich mixture or incomplete combustion. Remember that our bikes have 4 spark plugs, if there was a fault with the ignition system to one of these coil packs or spark plugs, you may get incomplete combustion and a cooler running cylinder.

Do not create duplicate threads.

And as others have said, this is fairly normal, plus an easy quick search would've revealed multiple previous threads before posting.

i highly doubt he intentionally created duplicate threads, on a different forum a couple months ago a new thread I started showed up triple and I was unable to delete any of them.

My apologies Checkwrecks for the duplication of the post. I posted and nothing appeared during one day. I posted again and after a while there were two post.
I searched before posting and did not find something similar. Must be my lack of english and not using the key words.
I appreciate what you do as a moderator. Thank you so much.

Once I founded this post was duplicated, I did nor delete it as respect for those who wrote. If I knew how to unify the posts, I would do it.
