I've done a number of Iron Butt Assoc 1000+ mile rides in the years since 2002 on a variety of sport-touring bikes including my FJR.

Last week I had an extra day off from my p/t teaching so decided to take a ride and visit my son in Denver (from Richmond, VA).

I left Thursday very early and made it to Columbia, MO before stopping for the night, just under 1000 miles. Resumed about 5 AM and made Limon, CO, a little short of Denver. So this became an Iron Butt certificate ride "Bun Burner 1500". I actually did about 1600 miles in just under 36 hours.

Visited for the w-e and left there Monday morning (off the clock) and arrived home early Wednesday morning with two hotel stops. 3500 miles total.

My Super Tenere was very comfortable with highway pegs and an air cushion seat cover. Very smooth cruising between 70 - 80 mph. On the trip out I logged every fuel stop and collected receipts, etc. My mileage was 41.8 mpg.

I always enjoy reading about other's long distance rides, regardless if they are doing one offically or off the clock. It's interesting to see or follow a route or the destination points and what kind of adventures were had along the way. There's always a story and reason for doing some serious saddle time, even if it's just to say you did it. I did my 1st SS1000 in the summer of '17 and have been itching to do another. I have the winter to plan one for next year. You all will know about it whether you like it or not. Hahaha. Have fun out there and enjoy the ride. #71196

The only official certified iron butt ride I ever did was to Limon Colorado on my Goldwing back in about 2004. But I have unofficially done quite a few other iron butt rides, for me they are usually pretty easy To do.

I've never done an Iron Butt, because I'm a Candy Ass.
I am too now.
Did a couple in 2013. My SS1000 was a ride from Washington, Indiana to Topeka, Kansas for lunch then back home.
The next was a National Parks Tour which is easy as you have a year to stop at 50 National Parks in 25 states in a year but I was still working so I had to do it in two weeks vacation and one long weekend. I ended up with 91 parks in 31 states in 17 days I think. I averaged over 500 miles per day on my 2004 FJR and 2012 Super Tenere.
