Hello,

A few guys have installed the heavy duty spring and they needed a spacer, so we made one up. We are going to put a kit together for people that would like to do this rear shock mod. Here is the spacer that is CNC machined and will be included in the kit.. As soon as we have it together we will post it and have it on the web site. If you have any questions feel free to let us know. Thanks ~ Jaxon RIDE ON ADV ::008::

The next time someone has their OEM rear shock off, could you PLEASE measure the eye to eye length of the mounts in millimeters accruately. Thanks

REAR SHOCK MOD.. Stiff spring and spacer kit...

I will be doing mine shortly.
In fact, it was a couple of other fellas that have done this before me that resulted in me requesting this spacer from Jaxon, and thus prompting him to just go ahead and admit that HE is the official source!

My S10 has a lot of Jaxon already. It just keeps gettin better. :)

Thanks Jaxon

And I will see if I can get that measurement for you when I get it off the bike.

Have one laying on my kitchen floor. Has an Eibach 850 pound spring. Think I used it 4-5,000 miles.

If you are selling it, please pm me a price for both items.

May I ask why you aren't using it or removed it?

I was setting up my suspension yesterday and even with the preload cranked up all the way hard/stiff with basically just my panniers, it appears the bike alone takes up all the static sag…

I bought an Ohlins rear shock.

Yeah, that would be a good reason :)

Are you looking to sell the parts?
Don in Lodi is going to try this shock. If he likes it then it will be sold. If he doesn't want to buy it then I will sell the parts. Should know in a couple weeks.

I contacted RideOnAdv directly as it was no longer offered (the package)… They made the spacer for me...

Hi Bushyar and all with this mod..
I'm interested in how the shock spring and spacer mod worked out for you. Could you tell me your riding weight and the spring weight you went with? Also, where did you source the spring? Do you feel the stock shock has enough rebound damping to control the heavier spring?
I'm considering re-springing my 2014 shock with a 850# spring but not sure where to begin or if it would be worth the effort. It's likely that I should have a 900# spring but it seems there might not be enough damping available in the stock shock... I spoke with Jaxon and he was willing to turn a spacer for me so that part is good to go ;D.
Also, what did you use to compress the spring? Sorry for all the questions but I'm ready to make this happen but looking for a bit of direction..
thanks y'all!

I like it. Its definitely an improvement over stock. I've not noticed any issues with rebound damping. I think for the couple hundred bucks its worth it until I can buy a proper rear shock.

I'm 225 dripping wet. So I figure maybe 250 with gear on. I went with the 850lb spring which is not enough. With my panniers on, with some tools, and other spare stuff, I'm already at the last line before full stiff on the preload. I don't think I'll have enough preload when loaded down for a trip… I think if I did it again, I'd go up one spring weight, 900 or 950.

I used these to compress the spring https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/989/47186/Tusk-Shock-Spring-Compressor?term=spring%20compressor

I bought the spring from some company on amazon.com I don't recall the name of the place. I just entered eibach 8 x 2.25 spring or something like that.

A couple tips; Make sure you order the correct diameter spring. I wasn't paying attention and ordered one a half size bigger. Also don't buy the Progressive Spring compressor, it doesn't work…

GREAT info Bushyar, thanks for the rapid response sir! Do you know how many clicks you have dialed in on the rebound or are you at max perhaps with the 850? I would rather go a bit light on the spring rate if needed due to damping limitations.

If anyone is in the area... I would be willing to let you try this shock, or just the spring and spacer.

Tim, wish I could take you up on the generous offer but I'm not in your hood......In your opinion, did the oem damper handle the 850 well enough? I know it's not a Penske but was there headroom in the rebound or maxed and beyond it's damping range?

I hear ya. The stiffer (950) spring may over-power the damping… I don't recall how many clicks I've got on the damping. I'll have to go out and count. But I know I'm not maxed out...

The Eibach spring with Tabasco spacer definitely made a different in handling load. By adding a heavier load soring you are not changing how the stock shock functions. You are correct in the comparison between stock shock and Penske or in my case Ohlins.
