2014 S10 ES Rear Racks / Rear Top Pillion Racks

After reading most of the posts in the luggage section of this forum and doing some internet work …. I am leaning towards the Altrider rear rack in a lower position with a givi trekker 52 l case.

Wanted: (Do not think I can get them all …)

1. No Removal of Rear Grab Handles

2. Works with Givi MonoKey

3. Lower vs STD Rider Seat Height

Here's another showing the flat rack conversion with grab handles in place. (Handsome young man in this video) ;D

What a dreamy gent. ;)

I didn't know you could flatten it out like that. I've got the OEM trunk case and really haven't fenangled with the plates so I have no idea what the silver and black plates in the video are for.

Harry, great list! Here's two more to add, and the pictures link to more info on the website. Neither are directly compatible with GIVI, although you could probably install the GIVI rack-side hardware on the DS Bike plate. Both are going to be roughly standard height to the seat, but neither require the removal of the grab handles.

Thanks!

Thanks all went ... with the Givi rack and it works well with the Kappa 52 liter case.

Pro

1. Good not great price (one of the cheaper metal racks)
2. Quality design and MFG all bolts / holes are well laid out
3. Looks good and should last forever
4. Was the last one in stock

Cons

1. Givi color is silver only now black to match the gray S10 ES
2. No placement option to move the case back or up a few inches as wanted
3. Took 7 days to deliver from Revzilla to my door
4. No under storage

Used a rattle can to paint the givi rack a soft flat black. Outside a few bubbles and drips and having to use blue painters tape to mask off labels and contact pins not to bad.

Just do not touch it with bare hands after parking in the Florida midday sun .....

I went with the Bumot- It is EXTREMELY beefy and well built. My only complaints are that there is no included template for drilling out a top box, and no torque recommendations- No instructions at all, actually. So I felt one of the mounting bolts start to give as I tightened it. Gonna see how that goes- don't look forward to digging in to see what lies beneath there and the job of replacing one of those mounts...Maybe the threads on the bolt went, instead of the frame mount point?.....

Be careful when you tighten one of these plates onto your bike. Anytime a steel bolt goes into an aluminum hole, torque settings should be provided and adhered to.

Just a quick follow up note to yours...if a manufacturer doesn't include any torque recommendations for whatever reason, check your bike's manual to see if they have specified any requirements so you don't end up stripping or otherwise damaging any needed mounting points.

Hey MotoMachines - completely agree. One of the best "farkles" you can buy for your bike is the factory service manual, as you know the exact spec from the manufacturer. As a fallback, your local dealer will usually help in a pinch, although I probably wouldn't call them three times a week for torque specs. :)

Hi Jabba - it's a good suggestion, and I'll talk with the manufacturer about instructions for the top case mount. It's pretty intuitive with just the four bolts, but always good to have a point of reference. To clarify on the "drilling template", all BUMOT top cases come with the quick release hardware pre-installed, and no drilling is required at all. If you're fitting a universal top case/Pelican case and want to use the BUMOT quick release hardware, we have measurements for drilling the necessary mounting holes available here. It's not something you can print and tape down for drilling (every printer scales differently), but it will give you all the necessary info to measure, mark, and drill for fitment.

Thanks!

Yeah- that's why it should come with the mount kit and instructions with torque specs. I am using graph paper to make my own template- but it would be a simple thing for the mfg to include it. This is such a nice, beefy rack and QR, it would be a shame to not market it to a broader audience than just Bumot top case buyers.

OK (09July2018), yeah, too big and xls not allowed. If anyone wants my spreadsheet of racks, message me and I'll ermail it to you or something. I tried to list all that I could find that listed Super Tenere, with a picture, url, price.

I'll probably do one to summarize what I find on my crash bar search.

I'm going through this process myself. I'll upload my spreadsheet soon.

For now here is a link to the Jesse Luggage rack:
