About what I'd expect for the speed. If I keep the speed below 73mph. . . . mid 40's mpg easy. Technically, it's more the rpm than the speed; below 4k rpms. 'Cuz, between you and your cargo, you're still lighter than me.

My average has always been in the 55mpg so is my riding partner with his 15 s10.
I really think it has to do with how you ride, i very seldom ride at speeds exceeding 60-65mph. In fact most of my riding averages between 50-60mph and i believe that contributes to our mileage.
Partner and i use these bikes as they were intended, back road, country roads and forest service roads and avoid highway usage just like we avoid trails suited for off road.
I don't view the s10 as a highway cruiser or a dirt bike even though they can do it, there is a penalty to be had either in weight or gas mileage. JMO

Not real scientific but I rode my Gen. 1 260 miles on I-90 and for the trip got an indicated 44.5 mpg. There was one stop for a fill up at about 70 miles into the run. Speeds ranged from 75 mph in some stretches to 80 mpg in others going into Wyoming. No luggage, just me and with my riding gear and helmet. I am probably around 240 pounds with all that on. I run 91 octane, no ethanol, fuel.

I have ridden long gravel road stretches where the average speed is around 35 to 40 mph with occasional runs up to 70 and for a 200 mile round trip run mileage indicates about 44.5, just like on a highway.

37.5 mpg, not bad.
If mine dropped that low. . . . I'd put it in the shop. :D

Agreed. When I'm on our county roads, just cruising. . . . upper 50s every time.

That describes my usual mix of speeds. . . . and almost exactly my mpg. Another factor is wind. About the only time we don't have wind is July and August. Other than than that, it's either a headwind or a tailwind. And, if you're carrying bags/boxes, it will make a substantial difference in mileage.

You can flog her all day long. . . . and she'll do it. . . . but, you're gonna have to feed her.

Over two 2200+ miles tours around Northern Europe, with Givi Dolomiti panniers and travelling solo riding on tarmac roads from single track to autobahns with speeds from 20mph on single track to 90mph cruising on autobahns I have had 53-54 mpg on both occasions. When I did my 4 compass points tour of U.K. mainland in 2019, I had 54 mpg for the whole trip. Now these are U.K. Imperial gallons which are a little bigger than US gallons. The greatest distance I did between and fill-ups was 232 miles although I was getting a little twitchy then!

The average fuel consumption for my T12 is 21,1 km/l or 49.6 mpg (US) as it has used 6.255 liters to cover 131.929 km.
I mostly ride solo and use my bike for every kind of riding imaginable.

On a few occasions I've managed to do little over 500 km (310 miles) between fuel stops.

310 miles is really great. You must have a very light throttle touch. At 230 I start getting very nervous. At 5000 +ft elevation, below 70 on the highway 45-50. Off the 4 lanes 50-55. Off road 55. In S mode around town 35-40. Hard, soft or no bags, no difference.

Ricerooster your mpg figures seem pretty accurate for the speeds you were traveling .
I don’t spend much time traveling that fast so my 2018 Tenere averages pretty close to 50mpg which is about 8mpg better than my previous 2013 Tenere.

not bad!
If i keep it around 50-60 i get over 50mpg. (this happened once, in yellowstone park at night) (this is on a 2012 super T with 80,000 miles)

normal riding i see about 42-45.

when i ride with my multistrada buddy i get 39.

overall i'm incredibly happy with the big T's efficiency. I had a 03 SV650s that netted me around 43 mostly. Then i had a BMW R100GS that go all of 34 until i finally rebuilt the carbs right before i sold it. was getting about 40 after that. I really should have rebuilt those carbs sooner. it wasn't even hard or expensive.

So the largest, most powerful bike i've ever owned gets among the best fuel economy. (my KLR and KZ400 beat it at ~60... but those things couldn't go hardly uphill)

It's about 2mpg more than actual. I have noticed that the 99.99mpg it shows when coasting to a stop, is what causes the optimism. On the rare occasions that I ride at a steady pace, or with C.C., the computer, and actual are very close. When I ride, and use engine braking to slow, that 99.99mpg shows up more, and skews the mileage reading. I don't worry about it. The time I had a front tire puncture (slow leak), I had noticed that my mileage had dropping into the upper 30s; never happens. At the time, I was on the highway with the cruise set at 80mph. 80 will usually result in low 40s, so U knew something was amiss. As I got closer to my destination, and slowed, I knew instantly what was wrong. Plugged the tire, with Xclimation's assistance, and drove home. During the last 10 miles, the mileage started dropping again. Got home, and checked. . . . had lost about 15psi on the trip home.

So, as long as my mileage shows 42+. . . . I don't even pay attention to it. If I'd wanted high fuel mileage, I would have bought a different bike.
