When you have closed throttle there is zero fuel being used as you slow until around tickover. Maybe that is why you see 99.9999.

Also, I believe that around 55mph (? it may vary from country to country) the fuel is leaned off for emissions and also to keep consumption figures low.

I pay no attention to mileage per gall/ltr. There are more important considerations to my mind.

When I fill up, and reset the trip odometer, the range shows in excess of 300mi. And, if I'm riding back roads at about 60mph, the range will start to show over 400mi. Of course I'm not brave enough to risk it.
Over 400 miles? 70 mpg seems impossible, are you sure your displays isn't set to kilometers?

The 400mi range only stays on there at the beginning, and only if I'm traveling at a steady 60ish or lower, with an indicated mid 50s mpg, and increasing. Not a likely condition that's going to last an entire tank. But, Don T's 310 miles on a tank is quite doable. (55mpg x 6 gal = 330mi) Not that I'm going to attempt it since I only average mid 40s mpg.

I have absolutely no faith in the fuel gauge, or range estimate(s). The mileage shows optimistic, and then as the tank gets close to empty, it shows pessimistic. My range will show 11mi until empty. When I fill the tank, it only take 4.5 gallons, obviously more than a 11mi range. It is what it is.

In a Caterham 7 a stick was a good reliable gauge :D

I have faith in the fuel gauge and find it very consistent.
The first block is around 7½ liters. The next 4 blocks is around 2½ liters each (always the same but with small differences between the 4 blocks). The last block is 5 liters.

The mileage indicated is optimistic - in my case typically between 5 and 10%.

The calculated range estimate is completely useless.

Everyone's got their calculators out and rattling imp and US galls conversions lol

If you find the gauge to be consistent, likely your riding is consistent as well. Similar from day to day. Mine is not. Even without my side boxes, our wind effects my mileage. . . . along with different traffic conditions. . . . and . . . . the worst factor. . . . my right hand.

Case in point: Today, with a temp of 78F, I had 76.3mi on the trip odometer, and a range of 322mi on the display. And, with the colder temps, and more highway riding in headwinds, I'm only showing a 42mpg avg. So, am I going to trust the display? Oh, h-e-e-e-ell no. I'll fill up when I get to 200-250mi on the trip odometer.

I find the fuel gauge to be consistent - not my mileage.

It differs a lot how far I can travel on a tank of gas, but that has nothing to do with the consistency/accuracy of the fuel gauge.

All's I know is my bike is on fumes at 245 miles. The mind blower is how good of mileage these Super Tenere's get. 1200cc motor and over 40mpg is crazy good.

I find that when following another rider I get better mpg. When leading or solo I must be more aggressive with the throttle. I don’t feel more aggressive, just an interesting observation.

Even when riding mostly in 3rd and 4th and canning it i get mid 40's Uk. On my Tiger 800 i would get low 30's. I think this bike is great mpg wise.

For me, she's so consistent, and the bike's computer is always within 1.5-2mpg of my calculation, that I don't even worry about it.

A very useful app. Once set, only add odometer total, liters/gallons tanked and sum.
Not very useful when realtime mpg can vary greatly. Over 140k miles my average is 39 mpg but I've got 24 mpg on a tank, I've got 57 mpg on a tank and all points in between. Use your display and do the math in your head.

I really couldn’t care less about the fuel consumption. When she’s empty I fill her up, that’s it. . . .
I keep track of it mainly as an indicator of a possible mechanical issue. If I had been looking for high mpg, I'd get one of those scooters that get 70+. And, different doesn't have to mean odd.
