For those that want to see what the Raven looks like, visit your local Yamaha dealer and if they have either an '08 or '09 FJR on hand, it will be Raven.

This gives me a great reason to get into my dealer to look at more toys. Thanks.

I used my excuse and got out to my dealer today and checked out the Raven paint on an R1. I see what you mean about the metal flake metallic paint. It has a small silverish color metal flake. I do like it as it adds depth to the color and I would think would help hide scuffs and scratches or other imperfections in the surface. I like it much better than the black version I have seen from some other manufacturers, like the black on my Strom front fender that has a larger blue flake in it. I am happy with it.

Are there any decent Raven pictures out there? I'm back and forth on the color and feeling the need to pull the trigger soon.

I like the subdued look with the tail rack and side panels blacked out.
I like the blacked out tail on the Raven better then the blue (that I ordered), but liked the blue with yellow accents better than the black with red accents. The rear grab handles will be coming off anyway to make a flat back anyway, so those won't matter. The rest of the blacked-out tail is so sutble that unless the blue and black are next to each other, it will hardly be noticeable. Still, I like the blacked out better.

I figured he would as well. I'm VERY happy with the Raven on my FJR. :)

Chad, I also like the blacked out rear on the Raven. Now I am trying to decide if I want black AltRider components or break up the black with the stainless finish for the tail, skid and crashbars.

I kind of like the Raven. Paint the Exhaust black and you have Darth Vader's bike.

My only nit and it's a small one is if you photograph your bike it makes it more difficult to get the correct lighting. Although it's much easier digitally than with Kodachrome 64

Black shows the dirt and marks more. They're very hard to keep clean. My FJR takes ages to deal with properly.

Well then, you may have cleaning "issues." ;D

Nothing's harder to keep clean than black but nothing looks better when it's clean, imho. Oh, and I Just got a new Shoei DS Sonora helmet and was pleased to see that the black part has very fine metal flake in it and silver accent graphics. Hope it's a good match for the bike. Ooh, I may some issues of my own.... :-\

That it is!!! Probably about 1/4 of my bikes over the years have been black and almost all of them some dark color. Silver is one of the easiest to keep clean, in my experience.
