Anyone have experience with the boxes from Moose Racing? Looking at a used bike that is outfitted with some.

Had Givi racks & pelicans first, switched to Jesse bags with Storm industries lid bags. Would recommend. Low profile, plenty of room, rock solid with incredible fit and finish. Plenty of used options popping up on ADVRIDER flea market as well.

Paul, what kind of tail bag is that? That's another nice configuration.

I've never really found it all that difficult to get good stickers to stay on the Caribou (Pelican) cases.

They are indestructible. I had a deer knock one off when I hit it at 75 MPH. My computer was in that case that went bouncing down the road. Computer is still fine years later, and case shows only little damage.

DM is using the Givi Outback Trekkers. She likes them a lot. Although Givi does not warranty them to be waterproof, and out of the box, they clearly are not going to keep anything dry in a hard rain. We treated hers with Flex-Seal. It's not just for boating with screen made boats. Never a leak.

Thanks for posting so rear cargo options for the Noob. My S10 came with a rear platform, but it is a plastic (perhaps polycarbonate) and says maximum weight is 11#. I’ll have to double check, to be sure it wasn’t kg, as that seems very light.

I have been peeking at bags that have and extra brake light or turn signals, but I really don’t plan on too much night riding loaded up, at least this year.

As for the Caribou panniers, I’m looking at a set of used ones off the classifieds here. I would like to do some weekend motorbike camping while cruising around the Adirondack and Appalachian mountains in Western Massachusetts, eventually getting up to the mountains of Vermont in the coming years. While only 50, I’m not getting any younger as the years seem to pass quicker.

This thread has help we Noobs gain some great insight from this thread.

My experience is the brake light option in Givi cases is worthless. They worked for less than a year and the connection made it not with fixing.

If you go with the Caribou, look at their case liners. I have them in both of mine and they make the case much more usable. Also use one their inner bags to carry everything into the hotel and leave the cases attached to the bike.

I chose Holan Nomada for my bike.

Main reason was the narrow profile (same as with the OEM cases even though the Holan are slightly bigger), as I exercise lane splitting every chance I get.

Good quality and very reasonable price was another factor.

I've been using them on several trips and are happy with my choice.

A couple of years ago I got hit by a oncoming car while on a trip (it had been hit by a lorry and went into a spin) One of the panniers took a direct hit. It got very damaged and had to be replaced. The rack withstood the impact and didn't even get bend, so very sturdy!

definitely nicest choice for hard panniers. no VAT tax when shipped to states. so they ship at the 800euro price.

What size panniers are those?

I got the 38L version.
They are the same width as the OEM Yamaha plastic panniers.

The second picture in your link is actually showing my bike from the rear, as Holan used it to make the first rack for the Gen2 non ES model.

I can recommend that you buy Holan from alburmoto.com. Oleksii who runs the company is a great guy and a close friend of Tomasz who owns Holan.
I know both of them personally and would buy from Oleksii, as Tomasz tends to be a bit too busy at times...

I swear by my Pelican/Caribou cases.
Pros
- Cheap
- Indestructible
- If for some reason they get destroyed and you are still alive, they have a lifelong warranty
- Definitely waterproof
- Carry easily into a motel like normal suicases
- Once you get used to side loading it's actually pretty good - you see much better what's in them, the straps keep your shit inside, and the open lids provide staging space for packing and unpacking. And it doesn't matter what sits on top (giant dry bag for example or oversized trunk)
- Go with the Tenere - function over form (wasn't there a song "if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, better make an ugly woman your wife"?)
- with the Caribou mount for Hepco Bcker racks they eject in a crash without causing additional damage
- available in many colors (I debated but ultimately went with black)
- pretty narrow, as in narrower than handlebars
- with Hepco Becker Lock-it racks, they are almost symetrical (only .5" difference between left and right side

Cons
- Stickers don't stick well: The Pelican's have a rough surface and lots of ridges, Storm's are smoother I believe
- No stock attachment points to strap something on top
- Backside has a ridge that makes it harder to attach a gas can
- You could call them ugly, but I like them
- Not very heavy, but definitely not lighter than aluminum
- If you want to have more than 35 liters per side, I think the 40L Storm cases look monstrous (but it also gets heavy carrying to much shit)
I have the storms and the HB rack too. No issues , love them

@BaldKnob

You have just sold me on this setup!

I plan on moving my v47 from my versys to the S10 whenever needed. I like the look of your setup. Looks like you have no clearance issues.

Everyone thanks for posting and informing researchers like me!

Glad to help and dealing with Roger was extremely easy. You should go ahead and get an extra break away latch and bring it on your adventures or at least a length of para cord in the event of an untimely get off. Here’s a pic of the cases with my V47...9F2888E2-D6AE-499E-9FA3-7522EEAA83D1.jpeg

I have 37 litre Givi Dolomiti cases on mine, I think they are excellent value for money, pretty robust and totally waterproof and they carry everything that I need on my European tours. 10/10 or 5***** if you prefer.

I have Touratech Zega Pro and both the panniers leak to a degree, I bought them used so they are the earlier ones, the later versions have a deeper lip where the lid meets the case which would stop it. I enquired about new lids but they cost more than I paid for the panniers and rails so loner bags is the answer for now.
