Either up on the bar or get a mount that raises it up off of the handle bars.

I cut out an aluminum plate the size of my Escort and mounted it on the Madstrad WS bracket. That put the Escort right in my line of sight. Another option is to use a Ram X-grip and mount it where ever you want.

When I used one, I simply used a big piece of velcro on the from brake reservoir.
I've also seen others use the reservoir screws to hold an aluminum plate and velcro to that for more stability.

RAM makes a mount that is magnetic that I use. Easy on easy off. And yes I pull off when it rains. Just don't ride fast when the rode is wet.

Used this set up for years on other bikes and now the S10. Ram mount mounted to dash plate I made. Detector is inside box hooked up to the Radar Sreamer. No issue with weather or trying to see or hear detector. Radar Screamer alerts and is very loud.

I use the RAM mount. Also have mine wrapped in plastic, with an opening in front of the lens. Unless it's raining pretty hard, I leave it in place.
