Since I have switched to soft panniers for travel I have noticed my passengers handles getting a little scuffed where the bags rub. Solutions I am considering.

Clear box tape
Paint Protection film, like they use on car door sills
Gaffer tape and just remove when not travelling.

Any other ideas?

In the cheap and easy category of something that can be later removed w/o issue; silicone repair tape. No adhesive, it sticks only to itself.

LINK Easy to find, not that expensive and simple to remove later. Only down side I can think of is that the soft luggage won't slide across it, but may grab and abrade the tape. I guess you could wrap silicone tape first, then maybe some other tape like bicycle handlebar tape over the silicone tape. No adhesive on the grab handles, still smoother on top for the luggage to move on.

For a permanent solution PPF would be my choice. If it gets scarred up after use, just R&R with new. For temporary use, blue painters tape is surprisingly effective.

Many shops will give you scraps for free, so might be worth asking locally. Black or clear vinyl wrap is pretty common.

I removed mine. They just get in the way of my bags.
