Hi folks,
Just a few tips to stop water egress getting in and causing coil pack damage,Install a small O ring
Between the two manufactured grooves and a large O ring underneath the skirt with a cable tie around the top of the rubber boot apply grease to the Orings and to the sides of the wells to help the rubber slide in.Pop the coils down, this method is well tested as my coils look like new every time I inspect them.
Hope this helps

I have had problems with riding in the rain and water getting in to the coils so I am interested in this but have some questions.

It looks like there is grease on the coil making it shiny and hard to see the placement of the O-rings so I just wanted to confirm the placement of the small O-ring.
You said it goes between the grooves, are you talking about putting it in the groove between the raised rings that look kind of like O-rings?

There is another thread on this subject that was started about a year ago. - link
He only used the O-ring under the skirt. He also gave the dimensions of the O-ring.
Do you have the dimensions or other specs on the O-rings you used?

You said this method is well tested. Were you having significant problems before the fix? Then after the fix you had a significant amount of time/miles riding in rain with no problems?

In the same thread linked to above, a guy was convinced that water was coming in at the top of the rubber boot where you put the cable tie / zip tie. See "Water in Plug Wells - Prevention, a possible solution" Reply #38.
He does not say how, just that he will try and seal it there. He has some good pictures to show what he is talking about.

Thanks for sharing your solution to the problem.

Hi ,yes you see it right ,I installed an O ring between the two raised rubber rings ,I’ve applied ACF50 on the shaft of the coils(great stuff &it’s non conducive) I can give you the O ring sizes if you like but I just selected a comfortable fit out or my selection of O rings

Yes I had very bad problems with coils, the rev. Started jumping very bad ,I eventually traced it to the coils so I replaced all 4,it was like a new bike
