I feel embarassed even saying. it was a bolt that was loose. The arm for the brake got loose and was rattling around. So as the suspension moved up and down it creaked a bit. That is why it was erratic. Took her for a spin and it was super quiet.

Before the trip all of this was tight. Somewhere south of lynchburg thats when it made that noise, but i put a few thousand miles before that and it was fine. I think i should have put some locktite in the brake arm bolts.

No need to feel embarrassed, we have all been there with some sort of a similar situation trying to figure out things that go amiss
to our vehicles, tools, appliances, etc., etc..
It is even sweeter when the found issue/problem is easily fixable and left no real damage....

Not me!! I can't imagine doing so. I think that L/R transitions would have to be sketchy. A lot of people swear by them though. To me, there's only a few bikes that it makes sense to use a car tire: VMax, Gold Wing, and Rocket III.

It's referred to as going to the "darkside". Some say . . . . that using a car tire on the Tenere is a good thing. Use the search box, and read about those that have done it . . . . and those that think they're crazy.
Everyday is a school day....Darkside not for me, thanks for the info Sierra1:oops:

do you run a car tyre?? or is that just my poor old eyes...
Yes it's a car tire. Now everyone taste, but seems to work for me. I previously did it on my vstrom 650 and rode cross country on it and liked it. Definately plan on keeping it on and doing it in future bikes. I don't ride track day type of speed so i've not seen a performance issue for everyday riding.

On the Goldwing forums the Darksiders are a polarizing group. Many have run car tire for many miles. Not my preference. Same as the helmet no helmet debate, your choice is your business.
