Back at the end of 2018 when Rumbux took their annual break, they decided that they could no longer continue. Sales in South Africa were not strong enough to keep them profitable and in other markets, the very high cost of shipping and the exchange rate not always being very favorable impacted both the profitability and ability to maintain stock on hand.
Honestly, if I could have afforded to buy Rumbux bars by the container load, shipping by sea freight, I might have been able to make a big enough impact to keep Rumbux going. But doing orders of $5-15k and air freighting them to the US added cost, but also had the upside of flexibility for the market. I had a set back in '15 that I was never able to recover from well enough to go back to stocking bars in quantities. The other issue for me, was the rapid expansion of the product line. When I started, it was only Super Ten bars and I knew I would sell every set I ordered. At the end the offering covered Yamaha, Honda, BMW, KTM and Husqvarna and people were asking for more. Trying to stock some of everything is very expensive and all that product on the shelves that isn't selling well, is still money tied up that can't be spent on more product.
Rumbux is now a R&D business with only a few employees. They have been hoping to sell the intellectual property rights, (IP), and blueprints to someone that can go back into production, but to my knowledge, this has not occurred thus far. I even tried to send them some leads, but no equitable agreement was arrived at or parties were not interested. I don't have that info.
