The first "road" looks more like a driveway. The second one, more like a walkway. Downtown Boston used to freak me out with how narrow they were. And, I was told London's were even smaller/tighter.

Once out of the towns and cities they have lots of roads like these. To entice you they shot those photos when the sky was abnormal because it didn't look like this:

Spooky! I just went on Google Maps to see if I had been on that road (or near) and I hit street view here
Sorry I don't have a jpeg converter and I am crap at computer stuff.....my apologies.
Did a quick conversion for you @PhilPhilippines I'm still useful for some things even though I've been a bike-less bastard for a while...

Ok. . . . that, to me . . . . is a one lane road/path. Is it designed/configured for one way traffic? If not, who yields the right of way? Around here they have problems with right of way at a four way stop sign.

Same here Sierra. 4 vehicles at a crossroads is a three hour head scratcher.

What you see is two way single track with passing place. Generally what happens is what my wife describes as the UK motorists' "racing to stop" when meeting other traffic. She is always very impressed by how polite and courteous the roads are in Britain compared to the chaos of the Philippines.

Those are two-way roads and there will occasionally be traffic coming the other way.
The difference is that unlike in most of the US, folks there are used to the need to at least occasionally be courteous just to go about their daily norm.

Courtesy. . . . what a concept. The d-bags around here driving their front lifted, diesel 4x4s with street tires have never been taught that concept. Or, they consciously refuse to practice it. I saw one of those trucks parked beside a car with his wheel turned, preventing the driver of the other car from getting into the driver's door. The d-bag was technically in his space, but, with the ridiculous wheels/tires, he could cross way over the line.

I would love to go through a day, where people actually payed attention to what they did, and how it impacted others. The Golden Rule will never be practiced by the majority of society like it used to be.

I am always impressed (and the wifey) when we arrive at a pedestrian crossing and the traffic is already waiting for us to cross!

This is the UK not PH obviously. Have to throw spikes out in PH :D
