Hello from PO! I within the last month purchased a 2012 S-10. I commute everyday regardless and formally rode a KLR. I can't wait to fix a couple of issues that I need to and definitely have some questions for the people that know these incredible bikes! I read about the clutch basket and know for sure I need one. I also keep reading about the CCT and want to know how to identify stock versus newer or aftermarket, by the way mine has 24K on it.

I bought a new 2012 model in Aug of that year and have installed the clutch basket from the 2014 model. It made a noticeable difference in the shudder of the earlier CB. I haven't had any issues with the cam chain tensioner as I think that Yamaha made a mid year change. I know I test rode an early 2012 model and the cam chain rattle upon start up was pretty bad. Mine doesn't do that.

Regarding the CCT, the one on the left was purchased the fall of 17 for my 13. Looks like the part number has been superceeded again with 2BS-12210-00-00. If yours has the 2BS on the back of the tensioner it would indicate it’s been upgraded to later version.
