Please Don't Shoot Me For These 2 Questions! [Flashing ECU]

Yes, i know the search engine is my best friend, but wasn't really able to track down the info i was looking for without spending a lot of time reading the plethora of threads/responses on the topic.
Picking up a Gen2 (2015 ES).
My two questions are:
Is an ECU flash tune worth it for the Gen2. I know it's almost a must for the Gen1
and:
Who best other than Anthony?
I reached out to Anthony and have not gotten a response, so not sure he's still doing it. Looking at the next best alternative or someone with a better tune?

Thanks! And apologize in advance.

Sounds like you've made up your mind if you called Anthony. :D There's two camps on ECU flashing. One camp believes that an ECU flash is the only way to ride the Tenere. The other camp, that I'm in, likes/loves the bike as is. My advice is, get the bike, ride it a while, and see how you like it. If you don't . . . . flash away. If you do . . . . enjoy.

Good luck.

It seems to me that many years have passed….in those same years, everything evolved. We went from the abacus to the calculator, from the telegraph to the cell phone…and from the Reflash made by a service provider…to the reflash made by oneself (PV3). Existing "today" the PV3, and Hulkss as a user and tester of it in an S10....it would not be a bad idea to think that the PV3, can be a good option to the Reflash...All this would be if “you” feel the need to make a reflash

Thanks for everyone’s input thus far. To set the record straight, in the past years I’ve owned 2014 ES, 2017 non-ES, now a 2012. Selling the 2012 because I miss cruise control and bought this 2015 ES (yes I go through bikes like toilet paper).

I have never ridden a flashed Tenere. I’ve read it made a bigger difference in the Gen1’s and not so much a difference than the Gen2’s.

That's true and why so many, including me, say to ride the bike for a while before deciding if you need it.

For 7.5 years I have been riding a 2015 Super T ES on the touring mode exclusively. (I do not change motorcycles like toilet papers, I like to get to know them.)

I do like the power of the S mode, but it comes on too abrupt and unsettles the chassis. This doesn’t matter on highway or straight roads, but in tight turns on pavement or gravel when on the limits, it does.

Does the reflash fix that?

Give these guys a call. I know some forum members have had them do the reflash and were very satisfied.

This is the specific reason I had my Gen2 2015 model reflashed. Yes, Anthony’s reflash totally fixes that. I hardly ever use T mode anymore whereas before, I had to use it at in-town speeds, traffic and lane splitting.

I actually had a Flash Tune brand Generic reflash done originally and didn’t notice much change. It was still difficult to use S mode at low speeds in the lower gears smoothly. I wasn’t happy with that so I had it done again by Anthony. Love the way the bike runs now.

From what I understand, the flash causes the computer to slow/smooth fuel delivery. No HP increase/decrease. It takes your fast, large throttle inputs, and slows them down, which in turn makes accel/decel smoother. Makes it feel more like a carburetor with a throttle cable, and less like throttle by wire.

The flash can include many things. As for the increase in HP…a flash can increase the power…but always at the cost of stretching the rpm a little beyond the factory limit…and rarely, in aspirated engines…that increase exceeds 10% of the original power….

Yes, "A" flash can increase HP, kind like re-jetting a carb. But from what I've read and heard, that is not the purpose of the flashes conducted on the Tenere.

This may be true, but this should not be interpreted to mean the bike is less responsive in S mode than it was before. I worried about this a little when I sent my ECU to Anthony. I was very pleased when throttle response in S mode was, if anything, improved after the flash along with the smooth on/off/on throttle transitions.

Once again, I'm assuming, but doesn't the flash effect the ECU equally in "S" & "T"? Unlashed "T" is slower than "S". I would think that would remain the same after the flash. Yes? No?

Just for the record I am a flash lover, however you really should ride the bike first, as others have said, to see if it is something that you want to get done. I could not stand the sudden and abrupt deceleration when you let off the throttle but it may be something that does not bother you. Yes it did improve the Hp and slightly improved the mileage but for my 2018 it massively changed the ridability, both in Sport and Touring and noticeably at low speed dirt riding. Ride it before you change it. As for who to get it done by I can only suggest someone in Canada.
Good luck.
