Playing (learning to) in the sand | Croom Motorcycle Area, FL

A 1560 round trip over the weekend to Brooksville, FL (FLatistan) for two Sand Training days by Zacker Adventures and instructor Todd Zacker.

It was blast at the Croom Motorcycle Area in Brookesville, FL . Learnt a lot about how to handle the S10 on soft sand. Started off practically at Level 0 and by the time I ended the two days I would put me around Level 6 with a lot of practice needed.

These training days set me up for some good riding days ahead in and around the N Georgia mountains. Honda, BMWs and Triumphs kept the Tenere company and were good play mates in the sand, led by a KTM.

Two weeks ago I was supposed to go riding at Croom with a co-worker who has a 250 2-stroke. After watching a few youtube vids, I decided Croom was no place for a 600lb bike.


Congrats and thanks for posting. I'm going to see if I can't track this down for myself. Sand scares the bejeebies out of my following several costly dumps.

Take Me Home | Feb 18 | Time to head back home after two good Riding on Sand Training days in FL. Most others left the previous day after the class since they lived just a few hours away. I had a 445 mile ride North to Atlanta and wanted to start fresh in the morning. It was supposed to be an early start but the fun of previous days did knock the body about and finally bike and I were prepped and ready to ride off into the fog at 9:15am. Reaching Atlanta (northern Metro) at 4:00pm with two stops for fuel and snacks. All highway Interstate riding. Tad boring. But a ride is a ride!
