I'm loading up the S10 and heading from home here in Wisconsin to the bike races at Indy the weekend of 10/8, then heading down to Deals Gap/Smoky Mountain area. Eventually I will be heading to the north east then back home the following weekend to Wisconsin. While down in that part of the country any suggestions of places to ride would be greatly appreciated. My brother will be attending the races with me but he has to head back home the same day where as I have the next week off to explore on my own.

Street and dirt? Lots of options... just about every road in that area is a treat.

Ride the Dragon on a weekday and you’ll have it to yourself. The Cherohala is my favorite and there are many miles of gravel off of it... Citico, N River Rd, FS 81. Wayah Rd from the Nantahala Gorge to Franklin is awesome then take NC28 north back to the Gap.

For nice scenery and calm riding, consider the Blue Ridge Parkway as you go toward the north east. If you want more off-road, the MABDR can be picked up in Damascus VA. Depends on how fast you want to get north and east.

You basically have half the country at your disposal. Probably better to give a rough route, street/dirt preferences and we can guide you from there. It's already getting chilly in the north so you'll probably want to spend most of your time further south.

Pretty much all street with my tires. Next time I'll plan to get some off road.
Thanks.
