Any volunteers to create this? You'd have the honor of "List originally created by"
When you move on, the next person becomes "Current Editor"

We're looking for an updatable list of parts and URL links as a resource and which would remain as this first post. Build out from what is below:

AGM Batteries like the OEM version
GS-Yuasa P/N xxx www:/xyz

Lithium and other non-AGM batteries

Power Distribution

Like to respond to this post. My S10 is around 30 months old and recently been having battery problems. After reading all I could find here decided to replace it and be done with it. We are limited on supply here in Central Philippines and difficult to find info other than this wonderul forum and general net search.

Anyway my understanding is the original YUASA is not available any more and has been replaced by the motorbatt. After further checking I find the motorbatt is just 160 .CCA compared to YUASA 210. How ever reviews read on the motorbatt have been excellent so being here in the tropics just hope it will have enough grunt. Any further info on these batts would be most appreciated, I mention also size wise the motorbatt is identical to the yuasa.

Doesn't seem to be much about replacement battery options on here. Mine is a 12, I've had it for two years and have never been impressed with the amount of "gusto" that it cranks over with. I'm thinking about getting a new battery in there as insurance against problems. Probably not interested in a new fangled Li-On or anything so what have you guys had good or bad experiences with?

I think I was on the road when RBM posted and I missed it. Two things to consider are the cold cranking amps, as he mentioned, and the fact that these engines are big twins. Cold is going to reduce the capability of any battery and it's also going to thicken the oil. It takes a lot of force to push a big piston through compression stroke, even with the decompression feature.

Personally, I've worked a lot with lithium the last couple of years and when I needed a replacement battery a few months ago I stayed with a 210 CCA battery that is AGM just like what the bike has stock. The cranking can get a little sluggish down to temps in the single digits, but it starts and I don't have any of the Li-Ion issues to worry about.

As for brand, there are only a few factories actually making these batteries, regardless of what name is on the sticker. Just watch for the CCA. Yuasa certainly has a long history. I ended up with another company's sticker (forgot who) but can see from the casting of the plastic case it's still a Yuasa. I'd have no problem if it weren't.

Power distribution is what I am currently interested in, has anyone here ever used a Thunderbox on the Tenere ? Any other suggestions for maybe better choices ?

Seems like Lithium batteries have been making some pretty significant progress, that’s possibly what I might try next time. But I am surprised at the low $110 price, that’s about 1/3 of what they costed a few years ago.

I would've been skeptical based on the price too, but all the NOCO products I own have impressed me so far. They make some awesome battery tenders/chargers too.

Speaking of tenders/chargers, do the lithium batteries require any specific upgraded tender/charger specs? I know they have some circuitry that the older style batteries don't have.

Yeah, you need a charger/tender that is made for lithium or has a setting for lithium.
