I've put 38,000 trouble free miles on my 2012 Tenere, it will be 3 yrs old next week.
I was perfectly happy with it until I saw Freds new 2014 ES model at the Moonshine lunch a couple of weeks ago.
Fred likes the new color, or lack of it, on the new ES model about as much as I do, so he painted his white.
I love the blue on my 2012 so I just swapped all the painted parts on my new 2014 after riding it 20 miles home from the dealer today.

I'm going to clean up my 2012 while the body is off and then I'll be putting it up for sale with the new matte grey body parts.

Heres a picture of my new 2014 and a link to more pics.

The list of new parts, changes and additions to the 2014 is longer than I had previously thought.
I picked up the bike this morning in the rain, rode it 20 miles home, did the body swap and then got out for a short ride, only about 60 miles but my initial impression is very good.

From what I remember:

Electronic Cruise Control
Electronic Suspension
Heated grips, each heat level,( low, med, and high) can be pre-programmed from 10% to 100%, as you like.
L.E.D. turn signals
Wider mirrors
Adjustable windshield mount
New windshield
Digital gear indicator
New handlebars and risers
New dash
Speedometer error fixed
4 way flashers
New sidestand
New cylinder heads
New pistons
New clutch basket
New exhaust
New cam chain tensioner
New ECU map
slightly increased horsepower

Congrats! I'd do the same but I don't know how to get any value out of the 2012 with 35k miles on it. Seems the resale of our bikes is a bit suppressed.

Congrats, Bob. Sorry that I cost you some $$. ;D

You will discover other enhancements as you get to know the new bike. It seems that Yamaha may have been paying attention to our collective suggestions on how to improve the breed. Just this week I noticed how they angled the guide for the throttle cables to he left so they would no longer be in front of the instruments. Several small things that I didn't notice until I got to studying it.

BTW, Motorcycle Consumer News measured an increase of 8.25 HP at the rear wheel compared to the 2012 they previously tested. They got a bit over 99.5, so it appears that the "slight" increase is a bit more than advertised. Feels like the midrange is better to me. Right off the bottom, it is not as strong as my EC-U Gen 2 flash, but it seems to come on strong about 5k. I'll probably have AVC work his magic on my ECU this winter to liven up that bottom end. Anyway, enjoy the new bike, I love mine!

I leave ya for a moment and B.A.M.M. you go off and buy yet ANOTHER Supa10.!!??!?!?!!

I like it - and I think swapping out the blue for the matte gray is a marvey idea for you.

Congrat's on the new iron...you'll be popping wheelies here in a moment....again.

I got updated insurance policy yesterday with the new bike added on. Seems like I have to price shop insurance providers every couple of years and that time has come again.
I've been back with progressive for 3 or 4 years this time. I have been paying less than $300 a year for coverage on the 2012 Tenere, they wanted $496 to add on the 2014 Tenere even with a 3 bike multi-bike discount. I found insurance on a stand alone policy for the 2014 with the same coverages for $186 annually thru American Modern Insurance. I'll be looking in to switching the coverage for my other bikes over too.

I think I'll be doing that at the end of my policy as well. I have 4 bikes on it, 3 of which are liability only. Two of the Licensed riders are 21 and 19, so I'm thinking that's why mines so high. Over 700.00 for the year.
