Howdy Super Tenere riders! I live in central WV and get to go pick up my new Blue Super Ten on Thursday. I can't wait.... What advice do you have for a new owner?

Hey welcome! Not sure where you are picking it up but make sure to check hand guard bolts when you get home. They seem to work themselves loose almost immediately.

Another tip if you are getting the oem cases make sure that the lock cylinders have been installed correctly including putting loctite on the security torx installation screws. If no bags make sure you get all three lock cylinders in a plastic bag.

Congrates on the new bike...you will love it!

The folks at R.G. Honda here in Nutter Fort gave me what I think is a fair deal on trading in my Kawi Versys. I'm keeping my Givi V46 topcase which works well for my 60 mile (round trip) daily commute. Thanks for the advice.

I've read every article I could on the S10 for the past year. I broke down and took one for a test ride last weekend and after that I was truly smitten. I can't believe how smooth the tranny shifts and the level of confidence the machine inspires. Looking forward to next summer for sure!! I'll post some pics asap.

Welcome! Just wait till it gets broken in good - just keeps getting better and better for (at least) the first 8,000 miles (that's where I am so far) and I swear the engine pulls harder and smoother each time I take it out.

You're gonna love it!

Run it quite hard from day one and give it an early oil change (50 - 100 Miles) driv ei treasonably hard in the mid range and don't sit at a steady speed and you should get a peachy engine.

Like most bikes I found the levers a bit high so set them for you, I also found the gear change very high so lowered that a bit. I always like to get the ergonomics sorted right off the bat.

Try upping rear pre-load one line, you should find the steering feels quite a bit sweeter.

The clutch switch mod is another one for early adoption, cheap and damn useful.

After that it starts getting expensive, so see what you find annoying / would like to improve and come and ask again, taller screens, panniers, suspension, exhausts and ECU remaps seem to be what most folk desire.

Welcome neighbor! I too used to ride a Versys. Did not trade it on the S10, but eventually had to part with it to fund farkles to the Tenere.

You gonna love the new level of versatility.

Only advise i have for a enw owner is to be aware of the questions your S/O may start asking!!! Now where are you going? Are you going to ride that thing every weekend? What are all of these UPS boxes doing showing up at the door? Hope some of them are for me!! Why is your wallet been so warm lately? I didn't notice it until I placed a frozen Pizza next to it, and came back ten minutes later to find the thing fully cooked. Honey, What is going on?? Why are you smiling soo much,

I would say be careful on the gravel with the stock tires can be kind of scary, this bike is heavy. Lots of smart folks on this site with good advice and its free [donations are excepted] Enjoy it is a great bike.

Thanks for the warm greetings my S10 brothas...

So I'm to pick up my ride on Wednesday and I stopped by the dealership this evening and mentioned the lock cylinders for the luggage and they can't seem to find them. Is there some link I can show which says they are to be included with the unit?

Welcome WV Super T, and good choice on the bike. Hopefully this might help.
These were found under the seat of mine at the time of delivery. They come keyed to your bike, ready to install in the Yamaha cases if you get them. I didn't order or get the Yamaha cases but all new bikes come with the three locks. I've heard of others not getting owners manuals, keyed cylinders etc. so I would keep on them till you get them.
And enjoy the new bike ::022::

Mucho thanks for the pic. That will certainly help. They don't sell too many S10'S here in cruiser land :) so the dealer isn't too familiar with the machine.

My dealer handed mine to me with the owner's manual etc. Good luck with your dealer - mine had no real idea who the bike was aimed at, nor who the competitors were.

Here it's either sport bikes or cruisers - what can you do?

He sells Yamaha, he should know about them all. That isn't an excuse. He should read the magazines and learn where the shift is happening.
We are it for the growing segment!!! Honda just doesn't get it yet.
