Hi everyone,

I'm still fairly new here and I'm still having a hard time navigating and exploring the forum. I'm a bit lost on PCV and why it seems so hard to locate maps for the S10? I seen a map in the ECU Map section of the forum a few months back and I finally was getting around to loading it on the bike today and I can't find the thread anywhere, thought I downloaded the map back when I found it but of course I can't find that either. Most of the threads in this section of the forum I see people asking others to PM or email them for their maps. Why isn't everyone more openly posting maps, why is it a inefficient contact me and wait interaction? I'm ready to work on my bike now and I don't have time later till another 3 weeks down the road...

Anyway that's my rant. Can anyone help me out with a better map than the one available on the Dynojet website for my setup?

I'm currently having issues with surging in lower gears going low speeds 20-35MPH and shifting isn't as smooth as it should be. Bike is like new only 9800 miles on it. It suffered a dented header at around 3k miles and rod it that way for a few thousand miles when the shifting trouble started, that's when I swapped the headers for arrow. Things were way wrong with the arrow headers, things got better with the PCV but after some time they are back to not so good.

2012 Super Tenere
Elevation where I live -13' to 2100'+ I live in the SF bay area which has a wide range of riding elevation.

Any help appreciated guy, also I'm considering doing the ECU unlesh and adding a single channel autotune, but those changes won't be for awhile and I need these problems fixed asap.

Shifting: remove the shifter... clean... apply water resistant lube... reinstall. You will be surprised how well it works.

Surging: There is a ton of information about this issue but the first thing to do is sync the throttle bodies. Read Read Read. There is a video.

Surging: Wondering if the Arrow Headers is contributing to the surging by creating a lean condition. 'Greg the Pole' has more information than you need to address this.

Codes: If you tipped over check for codes and try clearing them.

Tech Day: Wish someone would sponsor a Tech Day so we could gather and help each other.

Thanks for this info Tim. I have tipped it over in the past but the if a tip fault was indicated the bike shouldn't start so I'm not sure why you brought that up?

Good advice about taking the shifter off and lubing it. The throttle body sync is along the lines of what I was thinking to be needed to help the majority of my issues.

I took apart, cleaned and greased the shifter pedal today. It was dry probably due to the climate here and due to the fact the original owner let the bike sit for the 1st few years of this bikes life.
It does seems to shift much better now. I'm still experiencing major clutch drag when shifting into 1st when before it was a smooth click with no drag. I talked to my mechanic about it and he said that's normal after some miles on the bike.

When I dented the header I had this happen it was very gradual but after I installed the PCV it was back to smooth shifting. I'm wondering if this is due to the throttle body needing to be synced?
I'm curious what others have experienced. Again the bike only has 9800 miles on it so new I think it should still be shifting smooth a butter.

Thanks

I added Arrow headers and kept the stock muffler and never had surging issues. I have a 2nd gen S10 though and then got a custom map. Since there's a powercommander map for your 1st gen S10 setup (Arrow headers with stock muffler) that should be pretty close. Are you using that map?

+1 on doing the throttle body synch and also turning out the air-screw. That made the bike much smoother.
