In Utah you won’t need a concealed permit after May. Idaho has two permits a basic one and no class is required and a enhanced one that a lot of other states will recognize. . . . .
Man, I'm all about the 2nd Amendment. . . . but, some people shouldn't be carrying a gun. And, I have to assume (please) that felons are prohibited from carrying.

I sure am on board to travel to Canada after all this crap is over. I've always wanted to go up the Alaskan Highway and see Denali Mountain. Also want to see some of the lakes and mountains in Canada and take a few of the ferries.
You actually have to have some good luck to see Denali. It's usually shrouded in clouds. I've seen it flying over from the air, but when we did a cruise/tour in 2006, never saw it in the 3 days we were in that area. Summer weather in Alaska can be uncooperative.

Went to Canada in 2019 for a motorcycle rally. They’ve been requiring passports for at least 10 years and longer to get back into the US. When my buddy and I came back into the US, the US border agent took us one at a time. We were connected on our Cardos and I heard my friend tell the agent he was declaring a half-drunk bottle of scotch. I then hear the agent say “I’m sorry did you just tell me you’re half drunk?”. He let my buddy back peddle and sweat for a moment before smiling and winking at him! We both had a good laugh.

That's good info. I would more than likely go on a MotoQuest tour. The guys in my dual sport club did one and had a blast.

Renewed my passport last summer/fall. It took about 10 weeks, which was the lower end of the estimate at that time. I still need to get my Real ID/License renewal when we return to Illinois. I was waiting for the passport as one of the needed documents. By the time the passport got back, Illinois shut down the DMV. Since they were closed, my "expired" license is good until June.

I got lucky and did my Real ID pre COVID. I'm now having to renew my Haz Prints by May. And it looks like my passport is way expired. Time flies. I did not realize it was over 10 years ago since I renewed my passport. No big hurry for now.

To renew a passport, go online and fill out a form DS-82, put it in an envelope along with your old passport, a picture of your beautiful self and the correct amount of greenbacks. Then sit back and wait for the mailman to bring you your new papers.

Going to Canada just before COVID was a breeze and there were a number of things they'd use for ID. Plus Canadian inspectors are pleasant to chat with at the little stations and I even had a young lady answer where a good local restaurant was. Their most serious questions were to keep fire arms out of the country.

Coming back to the US? HA!
Expect a professional yet somber face, have that passport ready, and don't be surprised to be asked to pull over for more questioning or an inspection. Especially if you have ANY kind of accent or are otherwise noticeable. My German ex is the classic tall blonde but you'd have thought her last name was Bin Laden. In 2001 I had a passport replaced in London (sudden emergency trip for work) and several years later one in Rome so every border crossing became the Spanish Inquisition ever after.

That’s so odd to me I guess it different for different personalities or looks or something. I get hell going into Canada. Last time it was 45 minutes of unpacking the bike going into a private room being integrated. Then the man would leave and come back more of the same alcohol questions and drugs. What I’m doing, why do I want to on and on. I really figured I wasn’t getting in. But they eventually let me through.

Coming back to the US, I did the normal smile How y’all doing handed my passport and we laughed over a few things and said welcome home. Funny how we all have different experiences. I have never had trouble getting in the States and I travel a lot out of the country. Maybe my southern accent. Who knows, but it’s always easy peasy

There are plenty of other laws to deal with felons possessing or carrying a firearm. Permit or no permit doesn’t stop criminals carrying.

On the topic of entering Canada, our federal government now requires people who are entering to immediately self isolate in an hotel room for three days and you must provide two negative test results for COVID-19. After you clear that hurtle, you then must self isolate for 14 days at a location of your choice that you must report.
That being said, I have absolutely no intentions of leaving my home province until I've been vaccinated.

This is incorrect for land crossings. They want to see a passport but it is not mandatory. In recent years I've been in/out of Canada without a passport once and in/out Mexico nearly 100 times using 9 different border stations. Never once even had to show my birth certificate only drivers license.

If you are planning to go to Victoria Island by motorcycle, Covid restrictions will be the least of your concerns. If you do get there by motorcycle, be sure to post pictures as you will be the first in the world to do so. ;) Victoria Island is Canada's second largest island located in the Arctic Archipelago.
