So I had to get the wife's approval before I bought my 2014 S10 with 35 000 miles on the clock and part of my pitch was how comfy that pillion seat is. She doesn't disagree but after asking her if she's be so kind as to not dig her finger nails into my ribs every time I crank the throttle she told me "look, its either that or I go off the back" Seeing as I kinda like her I thought I'd look into getting a back rest for her, something easily removable yet secure enough to make sure she's still there when we get home.
Anybody seen anything like this anywhere??

My wife said the same thing as your wife.

I have a couple of options that we use. I have a Corbin pillion seat, that my wife loves, and if she is riding with me I’ll swap the stock seat out for “her” seat. It has a backrest that can attach to the seat. It’s leather and I remove it when she’s not riding.

I also have a Givi top box that has a backrest attached. This is what my wife prefers, and it’s nice to have the storage we can stow our gear/helmets in when we stop and walk away from the bike. 8C3EF8E2-49FF-4EB4-A77A-E701821938DA.jpegC9720C1E-87B0-4C3D-BA27-E86C4617B170.jpeg2DD92D08-9647-4801-96A9-73FF8B5CC45B.jpeg02BF94DD-8BE0-486A-A550-7C98901FC8C8.jpeg

Ah alright! Is the seat easy to remove replace?
I was looking at top boxes with seat padding on them but I've only recently bought the bike so I don't have the budget for a top box and pannier just yet (and I need to get a matching set wich is gonna cost me upwards of $1K!!)

The seats are super easy to remove. The Corbin main seat is finicky about locking into place, but with some adjusting it snaps into place easily now.

A good thing is that there is a lot of second hand farkles out there. You just have to be patient to get them.

Note the givi rack I have places the top box too far forward. You have to modify it by drilling new holes. Alt rider makes a rack that places the top box further back.

I had a local machine shop help me make a back rest. It's 3/8" SS which is overkill, the pad is off a Suzuki (recovered it), longer bolts to secure it., powder coated black, the bolts & acorn nuts are spray painted black. I had slots cut into it so I can slide it. May not be the best looking back rest but it works.

$200+, but nicely made. Back rest and mounting bits sold separately - LINK

Or you could teach her to hold on to the grab handles instead of you... ;)

Another options is a small top box w/pad for a scooter. Just a generic version will cost you around $60 or so. Shad is also worth looking at for top boxes. Worry about the pretty matching luggage later on.

I have a metal top box on mine all welded seams very strong. I would say you only really need a decent back protector in your jacket as you wont feel much through that anyway. My ex GF used to regularly fall asleep on the back at the drop of a hat. Last time was 10mls into a 500+ return journey. Unless she had a camera with her to pass the time.
