Parking position ignition switch

I've had my 2015es most of a year and just now realized that there is another position after the handle bar lock on the ignition switch marked p I assume that is for parking lights to come on. I turn it to this position but nothing happens. Is it for something else or is there a problem?

In the P position no lights are on. But you should be able to turn on hazard flashers and the Acc outlet will be live so you could use it to charge your phone. The key is removable.

That's weird. With my other bikes, P left the tail light on. I never used it, and was paranoid that I would turn the key too far to P. I did once, many years ago, and killed my battery.
