I'm going to revive this with a question for Hepco & Becker rack owners. What size spacers are you using on the right side of the bike, with the passenger grab rail installed? On my ES and the 2014+ HP Lock-It rack, my right turn signal is conflicting with the pannier frame while I have a mile of clearance on the left. HP instructs to use the 30mm spacers on the left side and 15mm spacers on the right; the left side looks correct, but the right side just isn't. If I throw a stack of washers in the mounts on the right side, I can bump it out to something more reasonable and not so asymmetrical (can only go so far before needing a longer bolt). Has any one else had this issue? Roger, over at Caribou, is sending me some spacers that may work, but really, is the HB rack fitment this bad on all later model ES'? Just seems like too much forcing and bodging to me; kinda having second thoughts on this setup.

This pic is before adding the final rear lock-it mount, but it's on the taillight also, when installed.

It looks like the spacers are meant to switch sides. Than it will be fine I guess.

Mine are both about an inch away from the light on both sides. Something's up w/ the spacers for sure. Hope you get it worked out soon!

I installed my HB racks with grab rails and just followed instructions and used the supplied washers. Don’t recall any issues.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been my experience; the left side is perfectly fine and has plenty of space between the rack and taillight, but the right side is problematic:

Working with Hepco & Becker to resolve the problem.

As a follow-up, and for archival purposes, I solved my own problem. While communicating with Hepco & Becker, they told me that with their instructions, the rear crossbrace of the rack should fit and if it did not, then it would be a problem. As it turns out, the crossbar did NOT fit when using their instructions and the spacers they called for (30mm on left, 15mm on right); the crossbar was too wide and the racks could not be forced apart enough to accommodate it (I was not willing to risk bending the racks in doing that). I reported these results to Hepco & Becker; I've not yet heard back.

The rack kit comes with 4 extra spacers, meant for use when mounting the rack without the passenger grab handles; they are 37mm and longer. I decided to take the two 37mm spacers and cut them down to 30mm, then I acquired some longer bolts at the local hardware store. I used those spacers in place of the 15mm spacers H & B calls for on the right side (and the longer bolts as the supplied bolts are too short with the longer spacers) and mounted the right side rack. The entire rack assembly came together perfectly, including the rear crossbar. The right turn signal is no longer forced backward by the rack; both it and the left turn signal are now equi-distant from the rack.

As for the cause of the problems? If I had to guess, the ES' right passenger footpeg might be slightly wider on the bike than a non-ES footpeg, to accommodate the rear shock reservoir. Hepco & Becker's instructions make no mention of the reservoir, or the bracket holding it, that's mounted to the back of the footpeg. Luckily, the H & B mounting adapter fit in with the reservoir bracket, but it does take a bit of puzzle-solving to get it installed. That all might throw the width off just enough (15mm or so) to affect the upper mounting adapter's mount points on the right side of the rack. I'm passing all of this info on to Hepco & Becker (and Caribou). All that remains now is to mount a tool box in the space behind the rack on the right. ;)

Had these extremely rugged Bumot cases placed. Side cases are 40liters and the top case is 43 liters.
Topcase holds my helmet and plenty other bits and pieces. Very sturdy and no rattle or what so ever!!!EEE96A6C-DE46-42D3-916C-1303310A075C.jpeg

I have a pair of 37 litre Givi Dolomiti cases with a 30 litre Dolomiti top box and I am happy with them. However, if I could, I would have bought a set of Bumot cases as I think these are the best money can buy, although the Holan Nomada looks really good too.
